Speaking of what Adam said, I remember Parcells said he didn't like to draft offensive linemen from small schools because too often they dominated on physical talent and the O-line coach spent all his time teaching the less-talented kids.

I mean, the guy did play at Idaho. He probably never had to worry about his technique ever. Probably never played against anyone as good as Williams, either. This is why the scouts pay more attention to the practices than the games, to see if guys like him can take coaching and improve or not.

HUh? Yeah, he was beaten. Mostly by inside moves. That Georgia guy, just plain easily beat him inside moves, probably basic of moves at DT. That guy was much smaller or looked smaller than Iuapati. Anyway, whatever your definition is, It don't matter, he is getting schooled so far. I don't consider Bull Rushed the only way to get abused.

LOL. Not a single guy he's gone up against has gotten past him. Of course, it's because he's grabbed the DL and pinned him upright. It's a matter of someone drafting him as a project and teaching him proper technique. He doesn't know how to play.

That's my problem with drafting him with a first round pick. Our first round guy needs to make an impact or challenge a starter immediately. If he's around 2nd round then sure maybe. All I know is that Iupati is over-hyped thanks to Mayok.

Alright then. I guess I just don't know what I am watching.

But he has played much better at LG so far than at RG. Miles better, maybe he got his butt chewed.

I don't think were that far off on Ipati. He needs to learn to play. On the TD run he could have been flagged again. He's a project, no matter what round he goes.

He still has a tendency to grab pads, he could have been flagged on the TD run by Blount.

Parcells pet projects were horrible, except for Columbo at OL. Thats one gem he got in FA that worked out great so far.

That is the problem with small school guys. They almost NEVER play anyone as good as they are. And with rare exceptions they probably do not get much coaching. This guy looks like a project at best. CERTAINLY NOT a first rd or even second rd pick.

As regards the watching practice part- he supposedly tore it up in practice but gets owned during the game. That is why you get combine guys that do not play well- its a world of difference between drills and practice and actually PLAYING.

exactley our OL picks were just terrible while he was our coach ..

Thing is Iupati stuggled today , does that mean he sucks? no it's one game and people are flipping out because a cowboy blog said that we liked this guy or a mock draft had us taking him.. so much is going to change after the combine it's way to early to mock for were we are picking... .. personally i hope we don't go OL in round one. I know it's a need but I don't want to waste a 1 on a project type OL ..

LA and Erik were exceptions to the rule. They would have been all world no matter where they played. We never would have gotten LA if he had been at a big time school. In the NFL you will find very few small school O linemen. BP used that as a rule, not an absolute. Its usually a safer pick going big school. By the way, BP was the only one that wanted to give Gurode one last chance at Center. He had been average at best at guard. And by the way he was the one that got KOSIER as well. A lot of people were down on him from day one because Detroit did not try and keep him.
