than Phillips and Bowles. I like Wade as DC...but I just think he would hold back the development of Tony Romo as a HC. I realize Wade is about as close to Parcells as Jerry can find (old, grey, grumpy) but this team is in dire need of a youth movement at HC position. Your superbowl coaches of the past few years are in the 40-50 years old range. Over 60 they lose alot of flexibility, creativity and can have trouble relating with 20 year old players. Vermeil was the exception to this.

I dunno, Phillips defenses in San Diego ddin't exactly lack flexibility/creativity to me.......

Norv is 5 years younger than Wade. 5 years! Does that really make a difference?

By the way, Phillips is still only 59, so I guess he hasn't become inflexible yet. We better get him while he's still flexible. Only about 4 months left.

SD didnt mind having him in charge of one of the top defenses in the league.

I love arbitrary age limits, don't you?

I agree in that Bowles sucks. Williams seemed to like him but i have a feeling that was because he wasnt hammering him and keeping it simple after all those blown coverages.

Each and every player is the secondary underperformed with him coaching the unit.

Phillips alleviates that but its really Garrett/Sparano that worry me. Garrett as a coach is a comlete unknown so i hold out hope but whn i think of Sparano i think about our running game and offensive line these past two seasons.

Our offensive line (with all those "Pro Bowlers") sure seemed to underperform in a number of games last season. I think it is a big concern for this offseason. We'll find out if VR agrees.

For the defense, we now get to see if it was scheme, or do we really lack talent in key spots?

We'll see.

indeed we shall, but i'm thinking we just need a couple guys to get more pressure and there will be no problem.

Didn't know we were developing Romo for a HC :D

But seriously, we don't know that it will be Bowles as DC. And i don't know if you have Sirius or not.. every NFL fan should, but during the Afternoon Blitz, one of the regular spots was Shaun Phillips, LB of the SD Chargers. If what he says about Wade is true, then you have no worries. He gushed over Wade every week and his ability to game plan and play to the players strength. The players in SD LOVE Wade. Said he is great to play for, that he runs a tight ship, but treats everyone with respect and like men. I think this is a good move by JJ to bring in Wade.
