He said on talkin cowboys a week or so ago that a player after the saints game said we are the worst film study team he has been a part of. Here is my question to you. In all seriousness, do you believe, that Garrett believes, he will just be able to out smart the other coach so he doesn't put an emphasis on film? It seems silly that he would believe that because book smarts don't translate to football smarts, but it's all I can think of. There is no reason to not study film. The only guys you hear about constantly studying are Lee and Witten and I just want to get your opinion on why Garrett isn't emphasizing it.

I think you have a head coach who has bare resume that goes back to 2005 so he doesn't know how much film study is sufficient. He just doesn't have the experience, period. I don't care how many boat trips he takes with Jimmy Johnson, he is way to green for this gig.

Except he played the game for 15 years. Under Jimmy Jonhson and Nick Saban. You guys really need to think out your criticisms instead of just making stuff up.

He stood around and watched the game for 15 years and no one cares about Nick Sabans year spent hiding from whatever he did in the NCAA.

Did Broadus identify the player? We are all assuming somebody we don't even know made that accusation and it is true. I believe Broadus, but I really question the validity of this player. Maybe he had his own agenda and made such a comment. It is also hard to believe that a man like Garrett would not place a premium on film study.

The statement just seems like taken out of context or something.

I mean what does he mean 'no film study'?

Does he mean there is none?

That's not possible.

Or is he meaning they don't all go into a projector room and watch together?

Or does he mean he has a lot of WiFi phones and tablets he can tap into at practice..

so the need for film review time is actually less than he's used to on other teams?

Which is it?

He didn't name the player. But the player apparently said "worst film team I've been on" which to me means a guy whose been around. Problem is, half our defense was made of street guys so I can't even begin to guess who

You really need to think through your posts a little better. You're not even making serious arguments. Of course Jason Garrett knows the importance of film study.

But it is totally OK for you to suggest that a year spent running the scout team in 93 is in some way relevant to Garrett's coaching experience.

I always thought stuff like that was at the player level, what separates the great from the good. You can't really make a guy study. I'm sure at the organizational level, we do film study about at the rate of everyone else, no more no less. Garrett has his flaws but he seems to me like the Dad who would be on you to study all the time, not the other way around.

How much film does the clip board holder watch? There are reasons the starting QB's spend hours by themselves in the film room. When was the last time you heard someone talk about how much time the backup was staying later than everyone else? Think about stuff before you post, right? You can't argue the fact that JG has very little experience. Probably less than any HC in the NFL. I think I remember you talking about the Chicago bears HC, and how important his CFL coaching experience was when he came to the NFL. How can the HC of the Dallas Cowboys have ZERO head coaching experience? I mean, JJ should of at least required him to be leader of someone before taking the highest profile job in the world. Even a pewee or HS job would have been better than coming in green.

Being an ex-player means very little to me. He needed more experience on the other side of the current, working on a coaching staff. He did not put in the work that a Leslie Frazer did for example, 20 yrs worth. Coaches are known for having long long hours, and most of the time the ones who work the longest hours are the assistant coaches down on the totem pole. During those early years, coaches learn and develop a work ethic and successful study habits to better prepare their teams. Those years can be tough learning experience through trial/error to develop your coaching identity but nearly every head coach in the NFL has to go through those years in order to reach the pinnacle position of Head Football Coach. Jason never went through those nitty gritty years like most current head coaches in the NFL did. His quick rise up the ladder was aided by his buddy buddy relationship with Jerry Jones. His greenness gets exposed every season with his sideline issues, once again that comes from a lack of experience from him skipping those nitty gritty years. So, the comment BB made does not surprise me one bit.

Maybe you should think about what your post. Plnaying has nothing to do with coaching. 15 years as a player isn't a qualification to become a hc.

He started 9 games in his career. Just look at all that time he played..

LOL there are tons of coaches that have failed that ACTUALLY accomplished things in the NFL without daddies help.

How does a QB with a 50% passing ratio in the CFL get put on America's team?

Hmmmm.....
