oh BS. His leg is just fine. This is all about being for all intents and purposes a rookie. The Dallas D plays everything completely different then what he had at Notre Dame. It will take time for him to figure it out.

His leg isn't "fine" until he's able to play without an AFO brace. He wouldn't be playing much at all if not for injuries to other players. That, and as you said, he's essentially a rookie.

Somewhat related............ but what the hell is with all our LBs so far off the line?

Even with Lee in there, it seems they all are dropping deep and anything underneath is pretty much wide open for easy 5-6-7 yard gains.

I loathe FF thank you very much. I watch the game, don't go back and rewatch, etc. just the game itself. Jaylon is a JAG and has done nothing except be a medical miracle for being out there I guess you could say. Splash plays come from Bob Sturm and he doesn't have any. But at least he has tackles....our new DE doesn't even have those!

I agree wholeheartedly.

I am rooting for Jaylon, probably more than any player in a long time.

But at this point he is a bad football player. For a game or two that is fine. This has been 4 games now.

If his name wasn't Jaylon Smith he would be benched.

This is Marinelli's scheme.

"Make the quarterback read the coverage and pray he makes a mistake."

It's terrible. Young QBs pick us apart because of it.

I hate it.

In the tweet thread, there was a clip from Baldinger where he said Goff made a great read and hit Gurley over the middle for a nice gain.

So you roll the clip and at the snap, Smith and I think it was Wilson, both start back peddling and are 12 or more yard off the line of scrimmage. Goff hits Gurley for an easy nice gain largely because there isn't a soul within 7 yards of Gurley.

Weird stuff in pages 3 and 4. lol

Problem is that who is behind him? We made Keith freaking Smith a potential backup LB on Sunday. Our depth at LB is shallow

The overreacting is hilariously stupid, the man hasn't played in almost 2yrs and he's still working his way back. This is why athletes don't take fans seriously when it comes to injuries.

He nerve is regenerating now but it takes time.
he shouldn't be starting on a team that expects to make the playoffs while "it takes time" happens

he should be on IR

we aren't blaming JS for sucking. we are blaming the cowboys for making that pick and not having more options at linebacker.

The things this coaching staff do makes you wonder some times.

Good god the kid is nowhere near as bad as some here are frothing at the mouth about. THOUGH I notice a significant NUMBER of those gomers were Jaylon doubters/skeptics/HATERS previously.

There are definitely mental mistakes but there is definitely a physical issue also.

yeah all those medical experts that never examined Jaylon. Really inspiring.

I said this offseason that my concern is that he does play but is not as fast/quick as before and is just average or below.

The people that say they are Doctors said I was wrong and that it would be all or nothing. They said if he played against there was no way the nerve could make him slower.

Ummmm show me a splash play? None.

Look I'm not against Jaylon, I want ND Jaylon bad. It's just not there yet. I'm sorry the eyes don't lie. He is getting torched in the passing game right now.
i havn't seen it mentioned but in the firat half he did a twist lb blitz and hit Goof as he was releasing the ball. We need to do more f this. It ended up a first down with Jones trailing but it was a heck of a blitz in which Jaylon beat a block.

Man do people watch games? Tackle stats aren't impressive when they happen 10 yards downfield.

Also why is he so slow? (Not directed at you, just an observation)
He has huge jump on the pile assists stats, and every team we face is scheming him personally, but won't publicly admit it because he is such a compelling story.

he’s obviously dealing with the foot drop but if you look at his play, it almost seems he’s backpedaling too much. he’s not attacking like he used to at ND. seems hesistant. he kinda waits to see where the runner is going and then he closes in. (5 yards downfield) he needs to just go...

I see that, too. It happens when you haven't played in 2 years. It's going to take more than a few games to get back to full speed. It sucks to watch, but it's factual.

The rookie is doing pretty good. It will take time for him to adjust to the NFL playing speed and learn to read the plays better.
I think so to.. Folks have such unrealistic expectations because he was drafted 2yrs ago. I guess they forget he's a rookie that has played just as many NFL games as Taco... Or they just conveniently forget to feed their own narratives.

You can't definitively say "his leg is just fine". The injury he suffered is mostly unprecedented in the NFL.

Ill say this right now he is not good by any standards, but its not his fault. The kid is doing his best. He really does not need to be starting. Hopefully he improves alot. Its just amazing he is even able to do what he is doing.
