So if the Cowboys lose tonight you expect them to win their final 3 games?

If the Cowboys lose tonight I wouldn't be surprised if they lost all 3. The Cowboys have been mediocre since the Commander game. This team is reverting to past years.

The original premise is short-sighted. It's like going for a two-point conversion in the second quarter thinking it doesn't matter, it's only a point and we have the rest of the game to make it up! Well, maybe and maybe not,,,

After losing the way we did on Thanksgiving, then losing again tonight would be a disaster going back into Philadelphia next week. In this scenario, I think this team woud be toast, regardless of the seedings after this week.

I foresee a loss tonight, followed by a win next weekend. Why? Beats me. This is just how this team is. No rhyme or reason.

However, a big fat L tonight will blow this board up.

I wouldn't be surprised either with Philly, Indy and Washington to finish out the season. If they can't beat a mediocre Chicago team in a very critical game they'll almost certainly lose again to Philly and as bad as the Cowboy have played at home this season I can't see them containing Andrew Luck. I just pointed out how miserable the Cowboys have been in week 17 games under Romo and if they're in a must win situation vs Washington the Skins will do everything to try and ruin the Cowboys season.

The two teams we are chasing play each other this weekend. So that means

If we beat bears...we back in division race

If we lose to bears.....nothing changes or we get 6th seed if lions lose

So after Sunday will either be the 6th seed, in the same situation before tonight game or tied with the eagles with a chance to erase what happened on turkey day.

So the game that is a must win is next week against the eagles not tonight

That's good news.

can I be happy about backing into good news from a depressing situation until *after* the game?

emotional insurance. gets old but all part of the game I suppose.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Dallas loses tonight and big, and the way this team finishes in December in recent years, wouldn't surprise me to see them go 0-4 in December and finish 8-8 either...

We just need to right the ship and that starts with winning tonight. Going back to how we played during our six-game winning streak which is running the ball effectively, converting third downs and keeping our defense rested. The 2006 Colts had a pretty mediocre defense (24 sacks, 15 INTS) and still won the Super Bowl that year because their offense was effective and they also converted on third downs (56.2 percent). Hell, we were at that level during our winning streak and then the Washington game happened and everything has gone downhill. If we can get back to the way we were playing during our winning streak, we should be able to get into the playoffs and possibly win the division.

So basically our great QB and 3 Head Coaches on Offense, 2 former and one current, haven't found the secret to the Haslett recipe yet?

Is it really that easy to stop Dallas? 8 in the box. Bracket Dez. Blitz on 2-3rd down. And they crumble. That is pathetic if that is all it takes.

A loss may not hurt immediately, but it'll certainly come back to bite Dallas by Week 17 or then.

Tonight is a must win, for many reasons.
The OP is for sure wrong b/c when you're in a WC race the first tie-breaker is won/loss record. So, of course, any loss can hurt you to varying degrees.

I sure do want to win this one and they are ALL important....
however, the level of importance from most to least is :

Philly
Washington
Chicago
Indy

Of course, last year we won 5 of our 6 most important games and that still didn't get us anywhere.

That's good news.

We are not out of the playoff hunt if we lose tonight, but it most definitely hurts our chances.

Even the Eagles game is not a must-win if we win tonight. It pretty much will be if we lose, though not necessarily depending on what the other teams do.

The good news is that Dallas has put itself in position to contend for the division and playoffs by winning eight of its first 12 games. The bad, of course, is that that guarantees nothing at this point.

A loss to the Bears tonight and we will see all of this vaunted resiliency this team has get sucked right out of them. I still do not understand how anyone can view the game as nothing but crucial.
