Jerry mentioned his biggest fear was making sure Atlanta and Chaz Green didnt happen again. Its why they went out and used the 2nd pick on Conner and signed a few guys in FA.

so if having to rely on Chaz Green is your biggest fear then why is he on the team?

Jerry rightly doesn't want a repeat of what happened at left tackle in 2017.

One of the players responsible for it (Bell) was on a one-year deal and wasn't brought back. That was the right move because Bell has never been a good tackle, and also didn't prove to be a good option.

The other player (Green) has another year on his rookie contract AND played well in limited appearances the previous year. There's no reason to not see if he can return to that 2016 form.

However, bringing in Fleming, Williams and possibly even M. Martin keeps you from having to rely on that player if how he played last year turns out to be how he's going to play this year. The Cowboys protected themselves from that possibility, which gives them the opportunity to see if Green can be fixed without having to worry about absolutely having to rely on him.

We have no idea how things are going to turn out. If we lose a starting lineman, then Fleming is probably going to have to step in, which means that Green could be needed as the swing tackle, which makes it in Dallas' best interest to try to fix him. The good news is that we have several options, like moving Williams to tackle, if we can't.

Chaz Green is terrible. There is not debate.

If you are happy with overall defense then good for you. I'm not, I don't think last years defense was a championship level defense.

Well said and you didn't even have to resort to the sanctimonious and belittling tactics that were used in his response.

I think it's fear of injury and nothing more. They have a 90 man roster right now so there's no need to cut a guy who actually knows your system (despite what he looks like in games that count).

But if he's somehow on the opening day 53? Yeah, that's insane and I'll be right next to you with torch and pitchfork in hand!

He was certainly terrible last year. I don't think there's anyone who's saying he wasn't.

In 2016, he started two games (played in four) and gave up no sacks. Did you think he was terrible then? The only concern with him at that point was his inability to stay healthy.

Ward is no surprise to me, I remember him standing out at the senior bowl and was never properly developed in Oakland.

Or maybe he is around to help give the young Dlineman confidence.

I have always thought he was terrible. He had a couple games where he seemed to hold his own. The rest has been a horror show.

It's a matter of two decent starts out of a three, going on four year career with a possible 48 games to have played.

Let's do the math - 2/48 = .0416666667. Which = terrible.

I honestly dont care about any posters being happy.
I do want them to recognize obvious facts like stats that suggest the argument that have made is basura.

Dallas was excellent versus the run in 2016 (never allowing over 115 yards rushing in a game and only allowing 87 in the layoff game) and very solid in 2017.
Yet we still get goofy posts that ignore reality.

  • LVE injured his ankle and sat out today. Supposedly minor.
just a follow up to this for those like me that just waiting waiting for football
i saw this earlier

no wrap or anything so probably is as they say minor and precautionary
as we know in past cases a 4 week thing becomes a possible amputation for the Cowboys
not in this case though crosses fingers

So says the true Cowboy scout:rolleyes:. The guy at least is there, none of us are, he has experience that none of us do, he’s privy to information that we aren’t. Lastly, it’s his job. Nobody gets it right all the time, but I will defer to the professional.

Garrett is a football mastermind. He has to be because he is a Pro Coach...

Broaddus got fired as a scout repeatedly.

He tried to get back into scouting for several years after Parcells fired him but got zero offers according to Broaddus himself.

According to your logic nobody here should ever question Garrett because he is a Pro. No fan could possibly understand that Garrett knew what he was doing when all fans thought he screwed up the timeouts and thought he iced his own kicker. The Garrett offense is actually great and ahead of the curve but fans can't understand it.

Broaddus is a known idiot.

There are many fans that are idiots.

Regardless, you’re not smarter than him in his profession, you don’t have the tools, information, or put in the hours. So for you to call the man an idiot is assinine. Many get fired for many reason. Coaches gets fired all times, Doesn’t mean they don’t know their craft better than most. Or better yet an average joe the fan.

I don't know... I personally know several professional screen writers that have no business writing children's jingles, yet there they are because they're the son, or brother, or best friend of somebody with influence.
And they keep getting jobs! Even though everything they touch turns to crap...

Crazy world, huh?

And did you take notice of the fact that the team just tried and failed to re-sign Terrell McClain? A key factor in that #1 ranking?

Sorry, but it's far from "excellent".

"Excellent" doesn't get mauled for over 200 yards while getting blown out 37-9 at home by the Eagles.

"Excellent" doesn't give up 178 yards to mediocre running backs while getting demolished in Denver.

"Excellent" doesn't let Todd Gurley run all over you for 121 yards.

"Excellent" doesn't allow a Green Bay rookie to gash them for 121 yards and over 6 yards a carry.

"Excellent" doesn't give up 132 yards to the Falcons when they demolish you.

And "excellent" doesn't allow a washed-up Marshawn Lynch to average nearly 5 yards a carry.

How many of those games did Sean Lee play in?

Chances are if they put the time in and it’s they’re profession and average Joe isn’t doing a better one.
