In many instances last season, when they got gashed by the run it was not due as much to being blown of the line as it was technique. David Irving would continue to get trapped when he would blow l through the gap. They were not blowing him off the ball, they just let him take himself out of the game.
Irving could have been much stronger against the run without gaining a pound. He needed to recognize the situations better.
True, but I don't think that it's all on one guy and simply technique either. If it was, the answer and fix is simple. Don't put him out there against the run.
I think that it showed a key flaw in this defense. Lack of a concentrated run stuffing presence, and an up the field tendency that can be exploited.
