Now comes the problem

But that's not a bad thing, build this puppy for the future not next season.

Exactly, everyone needs to realize this team was not winning a championship next season. Best thing we can do is clear out those old player salaries and retool this team with youth.

Romo and Witten last men standing, but by the time this team is ready to become a contender they will not be coming along for the ride.

You know they drafted him to be a 3-4 DE?

Selvie is slow, You get another DE on the strong side who is equally as slow around the edge. Thats a disaster waiting to happen. Crawford has good quickness going straight, what he would do inside. But Dallas would have no outside pressure with Selvie and Crawford as your DEs

You cant just plug in guys at DE in this defense. Doesnt work that way. they need speed off the edge.

He was viewed as an odd fit in the 3-4.

And that's fine if that's what you believe, but I put a little more stock in what Jones and Marinelli have put on record.

You going to be able to be okay with losing? Possibly more than we have since Campo?

We obviously are not going anywhere with our current head coach except 8 - 8 at best. We might as well lose to get better draft choices while Garrett does his on the job training under Jerry's masterful tutelage:confused:.

I would have to believe they didn't cut DeMarcus without having a alternate plan in place. There are outside pass rushers in the draft who will play and play well in this league. Obviously, the trick is in finding them, but certainly something that can be done.

And, of course, free agency might be where this is resolved. I just pray we don't go diving into a bidder's market for a DE. Free agents rarely outplay their contract.

But make no mistake, the answer in replacing D-Ware's production does not reside on the roster. We gotta go get this/these guy(s).

Jerry w/ a plan. That would be a first.

What does Dallas do at DE?

Releasing Ware creates a bigger hole then the 3tech spot. Which probably gets filled by Melton. This draft isnt really big on DE after Clowney. A whole bunch of projects after him. The next that would considered passrushers are actually LBers.

Not everything is getting fixed in one draft this is a 2 if not 3 draft problem we have to make up for the poor drafting of years past.

Just wait and see. We'll sign melton and Denver will sign Jared Allen. Then we trade for Von Miller. I know, I know, but Miller has had his problems and such so just maybe. haha

I'm interested in winning the whole thing not just get to the tournament a hope to get on a role, Seattle and 49ers have built their teams for a strong 3 to 4 year run and I'd like to do the same.

I think that JJ looked at what the Giants done in 07 and 11 and hoped to repeat their model of getting hot at the right time.

Exactly, not just because this team won't be improved but the NFC is a beast conference, it's just hard to compete right now.

Indeed. Cow management won't soon be regarded as particularly shrewd in NFL circles, but it's pretty clear they didn't wake up this morning and decided to serve up DeMarcus. Both he and the club knew where this was headed weeks ago. That also means Dallas not only has their free agent targets picked, but groundwork has been laid well in advance. Ditto for Ware. Everyone moves on.

How? The team drafted him and told him to gain weight to play the 5tech.

Funny, but typical Zonage narrative.

Marinelli already said he views Crawford as a DT why dont fans ever listen to what coaches say?
We don't listen because the coaches are not known for telling the truth. I don't blame them for keeping things a secret:

Without a doubt, For the first time in a LOOOOONG time.... I think the Cowboys have a plan....not for next year but a long term to plan to get this franchise back to being a Superbowl contender. The first step was to build thru the draft while getting rid of aging and often hurt players that are eating up the salary cap. Love Ware, Spencer, Hatch even Austin, but it is time to move on and rebuild this defense.....

For the first time in long time I feel good about the direction the front office is taking this team.....but then again,, Jerry could blow it all up with one crazy over the top deal thinking he is all in for 2014.
