Now I know why some people want T.O. and some don't

IMO the people who don't want him are the ones that want leadership, character, and class. Those same people saw 3 to 5 super bowls.

IMO the people who do want him here are the ones saying forget the star incident, I want to win now blah, blah, blah. Those same people never saw or were too young to remember the glory days so they are desperate for a championship.

Thats my opinion and I am sticking to it.

I think you're pretty accurate.

IMO, Owens is fool's gold. Underneath all that shiny, sparkling talent is a ... well, just a worthless rock.

I'm pretty sure I watched Dallas all through the 90's and I've watched every game since I was 5.

I'm also pretty sure I want t.o, and im pretty positive i could care less if our players are role models or not as long as they win.

I dont seem to recall many cowboys fans caring that Michael Irvin was supposed to be a cokehead along with the majority of our super bowl teams seemingly dodging one off the field problem after the other.

I want T.O. and I've watched six Cowboy Superbowls live.

Leadership, character, and class are things all fans wish to see, but those things are meaningless without victories and talent. Owens works hard off the field and does the dirty work and makes big plays on the field. That represents a kind of character.

Owens is brash and selfish at times off the field, but why is his character any worse than Michael Irvin (who's on your avatar), Charles Haley (who was traded to the Cowboys in hopes of destroying them from within), or Keyshawn Johnson (who insulted his OC, QB, and coach and wrote a book called "Just Throw Me the Damned Ball!")?

I also seem to remember watching the Cowboys since I was about 3 years old. I started drawing pictures of the Cowboys vs Commanders in pre school.

I also remember Dallas beating Buffalo 52-17
Then again the next season 30-13
Then losing to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game
Then beating the Steelers 27-17 the next year.

I also want Owens, because I remember the Super Bowl days, and I know what talent is needed to get there. I am also a fan of winning, and I believe that Owens brings winning back to Dallas.

You were like 10 years old when the cowboys last won a superbowl. You didn't even understand character or leadership at that time.

I don't think you understand it now.

Irvin was 100 times the team player that T.O. is. When did Irvin ever critisize his quarterback, the franchise, or his coach. The cowboys 90's problems is another reason why we don't want T.O. the troublemaker coming here to begin with.

Michael Irvin was with the cowboys through the end. A team player(something T.O. is not), an unselfish player(unlike your'e boy T.O.), and Irvin has done his best to clean up his act which is more than I can say for LT. Haley was a troublemaker but cleaned up his act. What the hell makes you think T.O. is going to clean up his. And haley never cried for attention like T.O. does. As far as Keyshawn is concerned he actually has a ring. People say T.O. will win us a super bowl. Last I checked the niners are still stuck with 5 super bowls and the eagles are still lombardi less.

When did character mean more then talent?

Talent wins football games, Character doesnt.

All you have to do to see that is drive to your local high school or college football games.

Landry would be turning over in his grave if he knew we were even thinking of signing TO.

This young group of fans are a win now at all cost. No respect for the tradition or pride that the franchise has.

Very nice post.

BTW count me in that first group.

Character will take you further then talent will when your careers over.

Its not that hard to be a decent person. But Terrell has a devil of a time with it.

I could care less what T.O does after his career.

If its for the good of the cowboys I hope we get him

and if it makes the cowboys worse i hope we chose not to.

But we wont know unless we do sign him.

1. You prove my point of you NOT know *** you're talking about.

2. Ever heard of chemistry?

3. The fact that you compare a HIGH SCHOOL game to the NFL is proof of your ignorance.

If you believe it's because we think TO doesn't have character or class that we don't want him, you haven't a clue. I don't want TO cause I believe he is so self-observed & seof-destructive, that if he doesn't get his way he will do whatever it takes to get his way. That's what he did in SF, what he did in Philly and what he could do with the Cowboys. We've got a very young team with few leaders but a lot of talent. If we can add the pieces we need, we can go far maybe in 06 but more like 07. If TO flaunts not adhering to Parcells rules, goes after Bledsoe, criticizes/blames other players for any failings, and just generally explodes and causes a media frenzy which distracts the team and divides it as they take sides what do YOU think will be the result. I bet you we don't win the SB.

If you prefer to believe it's a generational thing or somehow want to believe some of us only want to win with class or not at all, your dead wrong. We all want to win more then anything--that's what being a fan is all about, but some of us are realistic enough to understand this isn't a young kid who made some mistakes but a mid 30s man who has a track record a mile long. Gee, sure hope those of you who believe TO will change don't sit on juries deciding whether the criminal is truly sorry and let him off.

High school or college football is the exact same as the nfl in regards that talent wins. The more talented team almost always wins.

Being a nice guy and a team player is nice, but if your not talented you won't be on the field playing. That is why I said to prove that just go watch a high school or college game.

Question: Did you play college football? if so. which got you on the field quicker, being nice or being more talented than the other players?

It's ALL of it. Not just his character, not just his class, not just his temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way, etc... it's EVERYTHING about him that destroys teams.
