No real news, or much of anything else except mediot speculation until TC.
I think this is the hardest time of year.

In a way I agree with you. But for me personally, training camp and preseason are the toughest.

Why? Because of the worry of getting key players injured in practice or meaningless games.

That's where the players that don't take off season conditioning seriously pay a huge price IMO.

Not really the toughest, just the longest and most boring times. Depending on other sports. I don't watch much MLB on TV anymore until playoffs and World Series.
Thankfully the Dallas Mavericks are in the NBA Finals. So the next 2 weeks will keep that boredome away. Then will only have to go about a month beofre gearing up for TC.

I hope the Mavericks take it. I hate Pat Riley

No doubt these next two months are excruciating. I usually try to get into the Tour de France in July. Helps to burn through the time a little bit.

Guys, World Cup matches are on! Go USA!

ESPN and ESPN2 carry all the matches for the US (and others)

World Cup YES!

But if you are expecting a great US performance you need to reduce your crack consumption. USA is a longshot to make it out of their grouping.

I always expect a great US performance. :) I am also always dissapointed. This is the old mans national team this year, and many of our players will be playing in their last world cup.

My wife is from Argentina, so that's the plan B team. :)

That's funny -- my wife is from Uruguay -- so we root for anyone BUT Argentina!

The toughest part is watching a Playoff berth go down the drain in November. Here's hoping we don't have to endure that again for a long, long while. :starspin

We'll get at least 2nd in the group.

The Czech Republic and Ghana are lucky to be economically able to field teams. Italy is the only real threat in the group.

The Czechs are tough actually -- most oddsmakers have them at about 25-40:1 -- the US on the other hand is 80-100:1 at most books.

Economics doesn't have much to do with it - most of the best players in the world come from dirt poor nations. All you need is a ball. It is cheap.

Most of the Czech team plays in top leagues around the Europe. Most of the US player are on MLS teams -- MLS teams, by the way, suck when compared to the rest of the world's leagues. Nice stadiums though.

have you guys seen that Simpson's episode where they're at a soccer game, which boils into a riot? haha, it's funny, one team gets the ball at the start of the game and they keep passing it back and forth to each other, i don't know, Yeiger's post brought that up

someone laugh with me :(

well soccer is my second favorite sport and the world cup is by far the best sports event in the galaxy. it only happens once every 4 years so yes i will be watching closely. the only problem is that the games are in the morning. here in mexico world cup mania is at an all time high. we root for our team even when they win. BTW USA plays the Checks on the 12th at 7AM. good luck to all of you.

Damn straight. Best players in the world. Nothing like it quality-wise.

Soccer is only boring in the states b/c the cameras have no idea what to cover. They way they cover the game in the U.S. - well, just imagine you were watching the NFL -- and all they showed was the Center and how he blocked. The coverage here ruins it.
