No, not me. I simply feel sorry for them b/c they are missing out on the World's best sporting event -- but hey, I don't like a lot of stuff others love.

I do however hate folks who throw out stupid reasons for not liking it (again -- not you so don't freak out) - and most of those stupid reasons I hear come from Jim Rome "clones"

Whats a stupid reason for hating it?

I mean, if you don't like it; you don't like it...

Check some of the arguments earlier in the thread for a sampling.

I just watch the games from the previous season that I have recorded to dvd. It helps with the offseason boredom. I even have the 4 preseason games recorded, so I can watch guys like Romo, Henson, Beriault, etc...

RE: Soccer...I played it and was even a ball boy for the Chicago Sting when I was a kid...fun to play but boring as hell to watch.

Soccer would be interesting if they would just double the size of the goal...same with hockey.

Imagine the game of football without the ability to score outside of the ten yard line...how boring would that be...

I think this sums up the fundamental issue that I see with liking or not liking soccer -- many fans are conditioned to believe that scoring = excitement. It is the lack of scoring that makes each goal so freaking exciting -- me, I like a sport where the tension builds as it does in soccer. Plus, there is a lot more to the game than scoring - just like you can admire a sack in football -- there are lots of great non-scoring plays in soccer -- but you probably didn't see that watching the MLS.

I think Cundiff and Cortez gave us a real good idea of how boring that would be last year.

No, trying to score is what makes the game exciting...I just want to see more attempts at scoring, with a realistic chance of making a goal...but with the goal so small and so many players on the field, there aren't enough quality shots during a typical game.

...whatever floats your boat...my wife enjoys watching QVC...I don't watch either.

As I think I said before -- the game isn't entirely about scoring. If you can appreciate a good defensive effort in football why can't you appreciate it in soccer? after all, it isn't like the teams aren't trying to score -- there is a reason why they aren't making attempts -- b/c the D is limiting their chances.

Soccer isn't going to change the game to turn you on.

Dudes, its Summer. Go buy a Harley and ride...

I actually wish Football started in mid October and ended it late Febuary, Super Bowl in March.

Thats because it would fit my off-season schedule...lol

You can't compare American Football popularity to that of Soccer. As soccer is the original sport of the world (as it is the first sporting game to be invented). However I think that in about 50-100 years American football will be more popular then soccer.

How? the NFL can barely keep a Euro-league afloat.

Kids all over the world can't play American Football since it requires so much expensive equipment -- for Soccer, all you need is a ball.

I love the NFL over all other sports -- but American Football is never going to have the audience that Soccer does.

as people grow more complicated so does their taste in sports. i'm sorry but i dont think soccer qualify as a complicated sport. it is the first sport therefore it is the simpliest.

that why i said 50-100 years, as the world get more civilized and modern these equipments will be a singeto get. and btw you can still play football without the equipment, all you need is a ball and hankerchiefs to play flag football.

So you are saying that sports don't get more complicated?

compare NFL offenses now to those 40 years ago. I think you'll see some major changes that make a more more complicated game. You'd find the same with soccer.

abersonc- just because that is YOUR opinion means nothing to me. I have never listened to Jim Rome, by the way. I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT SOCCER. If the US were to be good in it- I COULD care less. If they stink it up- Could not care less. By the way- I COULD CARE LESS WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD THINKS- because they have a VERY LONG RECORD of being wrong about a lot of things. If you like the rest of the world so much- go there and leave the US. After having lived overseas for several years, I can tell you that you would be crying to come home to mama real fast.

Brilliant!. The rest of the world is always wrong and the US is always right!

Folks like you fail to recognize that you can love your own country and still like and respect what others have to offer. But you make it an either or.

I agree. I'm not a fan of soccer, it bores me but I do recognize that its popularity world wide is greater than any American sport. However Americans dance to our own tune and Football is still king in the states.

Only the wimpy kids play with equipment. Hell, we played "touch" in the streets, and came home with more bruises than we did playing tackle in the grass... All without expensive equipment.

OK abersonce0- outside of soccer- what is so RIGHT about the rest of the world and we are wrong at? I doubt you have the knowledge or the intelligence to answer that in any detail. I put forth some reasons in one of my posts earlier- while you just spout crap. I am not waiting because I see nothing to wait for.

Only wimpy kids? I played sand lot or street football as well and your right you get bumps and bruises. Putting pads on is not great protection guys are hitting at full speed and guys learn quickly how to use pads as a weapon. I suffered a lot more serious injuries in organized football than I have had playing out in the streets.
