Heres the thing...Is Roy Williams going to be unrestricted after this season or Not? Pretty sure he is. If the Lions continue to lose it makes almost zero sense from their standpoint to keep him, gonna lose him in the offseason anyway. It also looks like Roy is losing ground to Calvin Johnson in a big way. Johnson is now their number 1 receiver. They also have a couple nice complimentary receivers in detroit besides Williams. Im tellin ya, EVERYBODY wins in this scenario. Williams plays where he wants to play...IN Dallas. We add a vital piece to our offensive arsenal, and Detroit gets a pick, or PICKS...1ST and FIFTH to rebuild with. The very best trades are trades that benefit BOTH teams, where its not onesided. THIS is one of them.....

I believe BP is correct. I want to say Jerry said he contacted them during the draft about RW and they still wanted Ware.

If Millen wouldnt accept a trade like this at this point and time he's a complete FOOL. OH WAIT!......Well, guess that shoots that trade down.....;)

They would be helping us to much for them to do that now.

They would be helping themselves also by getting rid of a distraction.

Personally, I think we should trade for Jon Kitna since Romo sucks so bad last night. Even if it cost us Ware since he can only muster one sack and Henry could have had three. ;)

No way I give them a first now. They had their chance in the offseason. I doubt there is any chance they get a 1st for him at this point, they had there chance and they blew it. His value only goes down ad the weeks progress.

Because.... he is a FA next year unless they franchise him for what is it, about 10 mill.

I'd like to see proof of that. I've followed the RW story from every angle and never heard a peep about that anywhere but form members bringing up the Calvin Johnson trade.

Trades are a 2 way street if the Lions want to shop RW then great maybe Dallas could enter the mix but until then no trade is going to take place unless the Lions want to make a trade.

Still with this? Really?

Personally, I'll be "with this" until Roy signs with somebody-- us, the Lions, somebody else...

This is the kind of deal that would be good for us, good for the Lions, and good for Roy too (provided, of course, the price tag isn't outrageous)...

I'm not certain Millen could work for anyone but Detroit. The owners are known for stability and being conservative. Still, I don't see how the guy has a job.

Seems he'd want to get something for RW and at 0-4 they are out of it.

BTW, I will likely never think Detroit will do anything the rest of my life. The last three years I've thought they were near breaking out of being horrible. Nope.

Yea however that would be like giving America a nuke to drop on a country when they already have about 30 nukes.

No way I can prove this, just a feeling Ive had for awhile now. But to be honest.....I think Millen simply hates our guts. I really do. Dont know if it goes back to his days with the 9r's and Commanders or if it was something Jerry did or what. Just get that feeling. Think he would LOVE to take an offer from almost anybody but Jerry Jones. Hope thats not the case....

.................One of the reasons I feel this way is the outlandish requests Millen has made of Jerry when the trade was 1st offered up. Millen might not be a very good GM, but he's still a GM. He KNOWS that quality probowl type passrushers like Ware are as rare as Hens teeth. Quality receivers are much easier to come by. Asking for Ware was OUTLANDISH to say the least. By making such a demand Millen might as well of told Jerry to go pizzzzzzzzzzzzzz up a rope.

Jerry said that during dealings this past offseason, the Lions again mentioned Ware as part of any package to trade for Roy...

And yes, that WOULD be what I consider an "outrageous" price...

I don't see how Boldin would ever become available but since he's a Cardinal then there may be a chance. If we could get him then that would be my target. I'd still go after RW as I see him as much more attainable. I'd give up a 2 for him now. At some point he may become available for less. I don't know Detroit's cap etc. Are they going to frachise him if not giving him a long term deal? Is RW determined to get the heck out of there???

.........Yes....Jerry did in fact mention it a second time. Detroit asked for Ware...twice. Jerry talked about wanting to add a WOW player, and that he could have this last offseason around draft time. He then followed up by saying it would have cost the team Demarcus Ware so the deal was dead in the water right there. As it should have been.
