What happened to the people in the SUV.
Was the driver beaten badly? Did the wife and child get out ok?

Just spent last 5 mins reading a little on this, the Rover driver was beat and stabbed, but is alive, the paralyzed guy is alive in bad shape. The wife and baby are fine they were not touched. The family of the paralyzed guy wants "justice" for their kin they say the SUV driver needs to be charged with attempted murder and the mom said the cycle gang are just "good guys"

Was the driver beaten badly? Did the wife and child get out ok?

This is a detailed account from the NY Daily...

A dad out for a Sunday drive on his first wedding anniversary was beaten and slashed by a vicious mob of motorcyclists in upper Manhattan who dragged him from his SUV in front of his wife and 2-year-old child.

Alexian Lien, 33, of lower Manhattan, became the target of the brutal bikers when he accidently struck one who cut him off on the Henry Hudson Parkway, triggering a wild 4-mile chase, cops said Monday.

By the time cops reached the scene, the bikers had driven off, leaving the pummeled Lien lying face-down on the pavement.

The bloodied victim, a graduate of Columbia University, was taken to Columbia University Medical Center, where he received stitches for his wounds and was later released.

Can someone explain this part to me? What law is it that they would have broken before they did any of the stupidity? What is an "unauthorized ride" is it just having 50 or so motorcyclist together?

He should have taken out more of them IMO. That act by the bikers is just stupidity and the driver was protecting his family. It's hard to say how you would react in that situation but I would run over as many as needed to protect my family and their lives.

I tried to post a link to a page of videos not just this one. This one is pretty tame compared to some of the others.

Haha, good guys don't drive around looking for trouble and carry knives, much less having the intent to use them on people. I hope every last one of them is hunt down by authorities and nail em to a wall.

That is a whole litany of violations like speeding and obstructing traffic. What I am saying is that the police said that they were "unauthorized" to go from Brooklyn to Times Square and then a poster said they just needed a permit. I would think t has something to do with a large enough pack of them occupying a highway going at speed limit etc.

Justice was served. Justice isn't turning to the law you were ignoring when your actions backfire and take you out.
No way this guy should be charged for anything and more people should be arrested than the two who were.

A permit would allow them to ride with little or no traffic from the public, not yield for pedestrians, not stop on signs or traffic lights, and/or sometimes(depending on cause) get a police escort to their destination. It has nothing to do with packs. This could of somewhat prevent the aftermath of this event.

Instead, they were unauthorized (no permit) to ride, but they acted like they had the right of way everywhere. They had no respect for the law and the public, and the videos showed before and after the SUV confrontation.

Thanks I didn't know anyone else aside from President/Pope or Parades would be able to do that.

It gets worse...

The bike gang is now saying that they just tried to get the keys from the SUV driver so that he didn't hit anybody else lol. These guys are all a bunch of clowns.

I was done with those guys after I saw the pics of the man they left bleeding in the middle of the street....well, before that. But that just solidified my thoughts.

They beat, stabbed, and then left him for dead in the middle of the road. If they were so concerned, they should've stayed until the police arrived. But no, most left before any help arrived. smh

Life imitating a video game. Grand Theft Auto live thanks to some dude with a camera on his helmet. A mob of biker idiots got together and became even more stupid and decided to terrorize the streets. Yet again. Not the first time for this group. Hopefully, the last time but I have my doubts.

I heard the guy who got run over was from Mass. and had no license yet 16 tickets for speeding and other shenanigans on his bike since early 2000.

Would've happened sooner or later.

Guy in Starbucks said... A bike messing with a car.... Is the classic case of "bringing a knife to a gun fight."

1. Messing with car while moving
2. Thinking you can block 4000 lb SUV with bikes and bodies.

Unreal. This could have been avoided.

I'll be honest. I'd put good money on the fact that that would never happen in Houston. We've had several incidents where somebody was shot and killed. The first biker who walked up to the SUV would've been the first. I don't have a gun, but there's a large percentage of folks who do and have used it in just these types of incidents.

In Houston, it's best to assume that everyone has a gun. Texas is still the wild, wild west.

The idea of traveling in such a mob of bikers does not appeal to me at all.

I ride a cruiser, .. and it is always just my bike and me. (sometimes my wife goes if there is a promise of ice cream)
But normally I ride alone.
I like it that way.

I love the 'solitary' aspect of it, and it is very theraputic for me.

It would not be relaxing/enjoyable for me to ride in that conjested traffic, nor to ride with that many other bikes.

West Virginia has many many rural roads that are great for riding on, with very little to no traffic at all.

Seems like riding in that conjested of an area, with that many bikes, .. none of which are obeying the law, is just asking for trouble.

I don't know if rendering the guy paralyzed is justice being served. I probably wouldn't have done much different than him other than maybe just plowing into as many of them as I could.

true but substitute "gun" for "knife" and would you think the same about good guys carrying guns?

Has anyone heard how they are doing in tracking down the bikers?
I assume they know who most are because many were part that stunt group.
