Tuck: We're not in business of buying championships
Money can’t buy you love, but maybe it can buy a championship? Apparently that’s what the Dallas Cowboys think, according to Giants defensive end Justin Tuck.

Asked today why he thought the defending Super Bowl champs weren’t often being picked to win their own division in 2008, here’s what Tuck had to say:

“Maybe it is because Dallas tried to buy a Super Bowl this year,” Tuck said. “Maybe because everybody seems to be making these blockbuster moves. It isn’t about that. It’s about teams that genuinely love to play with each other. We know what to expect from each other, from our coaching staff, all the way down to the last guy on the roster. I guess we aren’t that flashy team everybody thinks we should be. As long as we go out and get the job done, who cares?”

It’s a good point, of course, except that I didn’t think the Cowboys were very big spenders this season. I know they bought Pacman Jones (insert your own joke about a police auction here) and Zack Thomas, but they already owned Terrell Owens when they gave him $9 million per year.

Really, the only Super Bowl they bought was the one they’ll be hosting in 2012.

(Please credit my friend and competitor Mike G for that joke.)

Still, in case you haven’t been listening, the Giants have arrived in Albany with a very big chip on their shoulder.

“Oh, absolutely,” Tuck said. “I think we do have a chip on our shoulders. You read the papers. We have no chance, even in the NFC. It really doesn’t matter what people say. As long as these 53 guys that we are taking into every game believe in ourselves and we go out there and play Giants football we will be fine. I know a lot of people are saying there is no Michael (Strahan), no (Jeremy) Shockey, no Gibril (Wilson), no Kawika (Mitchell). But, we got guys that stepped in last year and played a lot. They will continue to do that, and I feel confident in our coaching staff and the people we have around here to get it done.”

Great great great :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Not that i think he would have said something else in the middle of last season when the Giants were anything but a team.

Do these guys even try to think before they talk ?

No really, you want my opinion ? This guy is angry, because he KNOWS what people write about them is true. They weren't the best team last year. And he knows that it's fair to question their archivements. He is angry and human get angry because they are in threatening situation. When he feels threatened then he also feels fear. Fear because deep down inside there is the same doubt about his teams capabilities.

Nice for us ;-)

Uhhhh.....

OK.

I hope to God we did buy a championship this year.

Thanks, I guess, for the quasi-compliment that was intended to be a diss.

Dallas only signed 1 legit FA this year, Zach Thomas.

NYG signed 3 legit FA's this year, Sammy Knight, Renaldo Wynn, and Shane Olivea.

14 of the 22 NYG starters were originally drafted or signed as an undrafted FA by the G-Men.

15 of the 22 Dallas starters were originally drafted or signed as an undrafted FA by the Cowboys.

And oh yeah, there's something called A SALARY CAP that teams cannot go over.

It's the same crap with Dallas being accused of "buying championships" back in the 90's when the overwhelming majority of the team was drafted by Dallas and the roster got pillaged by other teams when the salary cap was instituted. Because we're the Cowboys and Jerry Jones has the audacity of paying players that the team drafted and developed, we're "buying championships" while other teams who hit FA harder than the Cowboys are doing are "not in the business of buying championships."

Good grief.

So, when his contract comes up, wanna bet he is all for the Giants spending big to keep him?

And also Mr. Tuck, let's see how you guys deal with the superbowl hangover.

Without your team/D-line leader, I want to see if you guys can bring it again. Good Luck with that !

Maybe you can step into that leadership roll and do as well as Strahan is doing in his new gig.

So the Giants bought their Super Bowl?

Another thing, since when does that keep one of these goofs from wanting more money and threatening to sit out of camp?

I would think if he really meant what he said he would offer to give some money back. What do you think the odds are on that?

His team made the playoffs, then he cashed in..... but his team isn't trying to buy a Super Bowl.

We made the playoffs....resigned Flozell Adams; gave extensions to key players but our team is trying to buy a Super Bowl.

There's a difference. We just aren't as smart as Tuck to see that difference.

Brilliant!

Ahhh, that must be it. Tuck is a genius, and the rest of us are the dopes. Typical Giant.

We just need more edu-ma-cation.

Last year, when we threw all that money at Leonard Davis it was supposedly a stupid move.

He goes out and makes his first Pro Bowl, and now we're buying championships?

Nonstory, IMHO.

Giants beat the Boys when it mattered, they get the mic until the Cowboys can take the mantle...Nothing to really get worked up, IMHO

Not to mention the Giants tried to sign him, and were reportedly in the running to the end.

and they had a taylor for shockey deal set to go through new orleans.

I mean signing Taylor says what? I mean they signed arrington for gods sake.

The Giants aren't in the business of buying Super Bowls. Hmm. Didn't they sign Burress from another team, Pierce from the Skins & I'm sure a check of their roster would also show a few other signings. And he has the nerve/mouth to attack the Cowboys for so called attempting to buy Super Bowls. What a jerk. He's probably not smart enough to remember that Flozel, MBIII, Newman & Romo are home grown; although admit Hamlin isn't homegrown nor is Zack or TO.

BTW: I seem to recall that both the Giants & the Skins offered Leonard "Bigg" Davis more money to sign with each of them but he refused cause he wanted play for the Cowboys.

My first wish is for the Giants to not make the playoffs. If that doesn't happen i want Dallas to play them in a divisional round game. If we can't beat them at our house for a second time it would be a shame. I dont mind the talking from the Giants, but i do mind it from Tuck. He was quiet as a church mouse until this offseason. Please.
