One of your favorite sayings when Dak/offense is dominant... "stats dont tell the whole story"...

Did I get that right?

Sometimes the defense will have a dominant showing and its the offenses job not to screw it up... and thats just what they did.
Nobody said any different.

I asked a simple question and he refused to answer, so I moved on.

We’re certainly going to need more from the offense going forward because we can’t rely on blocked field goals for touchdowns and pick-sixes every week. We’re going to be in some close games and our young TE’s are going to have to make some plays. That drop by Ferguson that could’ve led to a first down and a big play could be very costly in a tight ball game. It should be a lot tougher this weekend facing the Jets defense. They came up with four turnovers last week.
I mean again in this hypothetical does the Giants offense score 30? I get that the offense didnt score every drive (BTW does this happen alot?). they were literally one of the most effecient offenses of week 1 in a blowout game they didnt really show anything...i said we would need scoring in games comming forward and we can judge them from that.

One thing to keep in mind, yes the drops hurt us points wise, moving the chains.

But, those plays were there to be made, and will be again in conditions that are torrential.

Time to destroy this idiotic myth that the offense "struggled" Sunday night.

We know the defense was spectacular and the FG block TD was enormous.

Now let's talk offense.

Dallas scored 27 points in 7 drives (3.9 points per drive) with Dak at QB.

On what planet is that "bad" or "sputtering" like I've been reading here??????

3.9 points per drive is "bad"????

It would literally be #1 in the NFL BY A MILE if we kept up that pace for a season.

NFL average for all teams in Week 1 was 1.65 points per drive, and we more than doubled that.

Oh, and we did it in pouring rain, on the road.

Excellent start to the season from ALL 3 phases.
They had a bit of a slow start on Offense which is expected when you don’t see any action until the opening game. But Pollard showed he is ready to go. Will take a bit for the other RB to get a feel. Rainy so good plan. Dak spotted a wide open WR. Fergie and TE better tighten up. Lamb and Gallup were able to haul in the wet ball.

If it was left to the Offense we win 26-0. We shut them down. Now the question is to me…. Are we that good. Are giants that bad. Do giants have a good defense like they say.

The Giants were gashing us on their first drive and had they scored it could’ve been a different game. The blocked field goal for a touchdown completely took the wind out of their sails. They got behind and had to abandon the running game. Everything went against them Sunday night. The Cowboys really didn’t have to dig very deep into their bag and do much offensively. I expect it’s going to be a lot different against the Jets even without Aaron Rodgers. Zach Wilson is mobile and we’re going to have to contend with Dalvin Cook. The Cowboys may be without Brandin Cooks so Gallup is going to have to step up.

You think we get 27 without the defense getting turnovers and putting us in good field position?
This question? The answer is YES, because we've scored 27+ last year against top 10 defenses... but last year, is last year. We will see what they do against the Jets.

Uh I think we had 9 drives, not 7. Still good at 3 points per drive.

Yes, two were at the ends of both halves but if you subtract them out, then you have to do it for all other teams in the comparison to the league (or maybe they already do that, I don't know).

I meant in that specific game Sunday.

Did that offense Sunday night look like an offense that could've put up a bunch points without the great positions the defense put them in over and over all game?

You think that offense Sunday night looked like it could've went on 75 yard TD drives all night?

The Dallas Cowboys are meaning business this season....offense, defense especially, and special teams...they are all in it together.

I think it's time that they will show don't take them lightly...

The offense will never be good enough for mountaineercowboy. He will always make an excuse for why it's not good enough. It must be exhausting always being pessimistic and a contrarian.

They had a 75 and 50 yard drive so yes they probably could have.

In a driving deluge of rain, the offense did OK. Would've looked a lot better had Hendershot caught the TD pass but it is what it is. I am sure they are going to want to look better this week, the TE's looked the worst.
Maybe they ought to give Schoonmaker a few snaps.

We got 265 yards of offense.

We don't score 27 points without the defense being dominant.
Is 265 yards going to be enough most week or not?
You've made a lot of silly arguments in the past, but this may be the silliest.

I don't know if you know this, but an offense can't gain yards in a drive after they put the ball in the end zone. The Cowboys scored TDs on 38- and 50-yard drives: that's all they could gain on those drives. You shouldn't assume the offense was only *capable* of putting up 38 yards on that first drive. It's like watching a 1-yard TD run and saying, "that running back stinks! One yard per carry isn't going to get it done!"

I don't know if you know this, but when you put your backups in and do nothing but hand off for the last 12 minutes of a game, you aren't going to put up much in the way of yards.

Dallas had a 75-yard TD drive and two long FG drives to go with those short TD drives, and they would have had more if TEs weren't dropping balls in their hands in the driving rain.

Only a complete fool would think that 265 yards in this game has any bearing on the yardage the Cowboys would put up in a competitive game. Or that scoring on 5 of 7 drives and committing no turnovers, in the driving rain, is somehow a poor performance by the offense.

In a typical game, an offense gets something like 10-12 drives. If the game is competitive, they are of course trying to score on all of those drives. Typically, a couple of those drives will come with a relatively short field. Prorate what happened Sunday to a more typical game and you're looking at a lot more yards and some more points.

Besides the 13 points scored by the defense, they were also responsible for the offense starting their drives twice on the Giants 38 yardline and one at midfield.

The first two drives ended in TD's, the third one ended the game.

However, the offense also scored 1 TD and 2 FG's on drives that started on the Cowboys 26 yardline or deeper. They had two three and out.

The Giants had 7 drives of three plays or less. They had three drives of 10 or more plays. The first two ended with a blocked FG and a missed FG. The last one ended on downs.

You're leaving out it raining pretty good all night, being a significant factor in that game. So with that being the case... Iam gonna go with no offense in the league could've went on 75 yd TD drives all night.

The offense seemed fantastic because there were no turnover....and the team scored 40 points.

I simply asked if he thinks 265 total yards is enough to get it done most weeks. It was Sunday, but will it be against the 49ers in a few weeks or the Jets this week? If I said we only get 265 total offensive yards next week would you think that we win that game?

It's a simple question.

I'll help. The answer is "no". But, because I am who I am ya'll would rather argue then just agree.
