Offensive line, offensive line, and more offensive line

We apparently didn't need Carl Nicks, nor did we need to draft a center or guard in the draft. What we needed were two bulkier, younger guards to bracket Costa at center, and Bill Callahan to coach 'em up instead of Hudson Houck.

We'll see tonight.

Until this team has an offensive line that can stand up against elite pass-rushing defensive lines, not a single thing is going to change. This schedule features several teams with good defensive fronts, so this improvement isn't optional, and it can't be patchworked.

The offseason moves have to be correct....or else.

I'm looking forward to watching the new-look defense tonight, but make no mistake, tonight and this entire season rely solely on the offensive line. It has to be dramatically better than last year.

My eyes will be focused intently Smith, Livings, Costa, Bernadeau, and Free tonight.

Romo is going to make you forget about the "bad" offensive line. I'm going to wait to see what they do, but I already know what he'll do.

I don't disagree with that, and the defense looks improved, but Romo needs less on his shoulders, too. A run game and better protection are critical in big games against good teams, too.

I agree. It's all intricately woven together but if we can't stop the pass this year we will die.

Here it is again.

Can ANYONE show me one fan here at CZ who thinks the OL is fine?

These mystery fans get talked about all the time, but I've seen little, if any evidence.

It's the same as Sasquatch.

well lets see
Winsinki and others say that is is OK. No real problems. No need to put more resources into it.

Sounds like saying the O line is fine to me.

currently, I have no idea if the offensive line is fine or not. I have not seen them in action for even 1 play.

There are plenty here that thinks an average line is fine and expect this line to be average.

I don't know what to expect since this is the 1st real action with the entire unit together.

The team ran up gaudy stats against the Bills, Seawhawks, Rams, etc, and Romo had to scramble his way out of some horrific protection issues.

I'm hopeful, but if you want Romo to see this end of the season, that line has to be a lot better. Another year of broken ribs or a broken collar bone because of missed protection assignments is inexcusable when the problem has been so apparent for sooooooo long.

Erod you are utterly dominating the line of scrimmage in this discussion.

DOM-I-NATION

None of the smarter posters here think this line is average...and most definitely the better national pundits don't see it that way.

The Cowboys might be able to mask the line's woes through scheme, and the sheer Houdini brilliance of Tony Romo.

In all likelihood against superior d-lines, we'll be utterly hamstrung, throwing screens and slants and when we do go down the field it will be with max protect...where the defense will have 6 dbs smothering 2 or 3 guys out running patterns.
