Not knowing a lot about Hitchens, what concerns me about his stats is the lack of FF's, or INT's.
Even playing inside I would really like a playmaker. Maybe Hitchens may become one at a new position, but that's usually instinctual.

If I was the GM, this is what our draft would look like at this point (and all of these guys were/would've been available when we picked)...

Round 1 (16) - FS HaHa Clinton-Dix
Round 2 (47) - DE Kony Ealy
Round 3 (78) - DT Louis Nix III
Round 4 (119) - RB Lache Seastrunk

Those first three picks are all first round graded players that just happen to fill our 3 biggest needs... it's a shame how idiotic our front office is.

Even Mickey and Brian don't sound happy with this last pick.Mickey just ask do they have to start drafting for special teams this early.this was a terrible pick.no 3rd round pick, and now a bad 4th round pick. this is not good cowboys fans.

It's not good and you have fellow Cowboys fans supporting this questionable pick. It's sad.

FWIW, which is little, my buddy's a big Iowa fan and thinks Hitch is solid. Buddy isn't a scout but he's a smart guy. Like every pick I'll defer judgment. The over drafting thing is up to the individual and their sources. Maybe the Cowboys heard different than the analysts. I am not one to trust them easily.

Hindsight is always 20/20, and it's easy to draft from the armchair of your couch. Same with playing sports, it's easy to say he should've done this or that, but it's not so easy when you're actually doing it.

So you would have taken players that other teams didn't value until much later than when Dallas picked?

Picks didn't work out. I am sure this is the first time that a 4th rounder was not a successful pick in the history of the NFL draft. We are so unlucky.

*sigh*

I mean if its all just a crapshoot for you why don't we save the franchise a couple million a year and scrap the scouting department and just pick names out of a hat?

Yep, Just like when Brewster and AoA and Jason Williams and Matt Johnson were steals as well.

At least with those two you did not have to spend at least five minutes trying to find a scouting report on them.

This qualifies as the biggest reach I can remember.

I think they just did with Hitchens. Might have confused him with James Morris.

Where would nix fit in our defense ? The guy struggles with his weight and isn't what our defense needs. Kony easy also slid like crazy for obvious reasons.

This has to be on Will McClay. He was going to run this draft in middle rounds with emphasis on D. Can we stop the annointed articles on him now.
