Serious question (for someone with a good memory)... how many game management games has he lost us in his tenure here already? I think the number is close to 10 at this point already

easily more than that...i can only think of 3-4 losses that he wasnt involved in.

There is no chance for Dallas to build a good team with Jerry Jones calling the shots. No chance. The last 18 years testify to that. Jason Garrett is merely a symptom of the illness.

I was screaming at the TV that we should have gone for it on 4th and 5. If you get a first down, the game is over! If not, then all you did was give them the opportunity to tie the game - big deal

As much as people are freaking out, running the ball 3 times was the right call. Thats just the right way to play it. Holding call killed us.

No but he set the tone the entire game in playing NOT TO LOSE. You don't play NOT TO LOSE in a close game and try to run out the clock early in the 4th. We have a coaching problem in Dallas. Its Garrett.

this is a coach who doesn't understand the situation - only thing on his mind was probably "i i don't get a first down, then they get the ball back"
true, but the yget it back with 20 sec and one tackle you win, risk stopping the clock and you get this result
dumb dumb dumb

Or should he have run it four times? Pass on the long FG and keep the clock running? What exactly did Garrett screw up? Someone spell it out please.....

I'm glad you said it first, but this is exactly right.

Only idgit would defend this guy to the end. Oh well. Some of us are content with mediocrity. You don't play to lose. You don't run on 2nd down. All you need is one first down and you win--not a score. How hard is it to understand that's how this works? To say that's the right call is absolutely asinine. You play to win. You throw the ball to Witten. You get one first down, and then it's the right time to run the ball 3 times. I gather you don't get how to manage a game either.

I need to get off this board before I get banned today.

Garrett did not cost us this game.

I'm not a moron. don't be one guys.

total mismanagement of the time
you can knee 3 times and give the ball back with 20 sec to play
let them catch the ball and tackle once in the field and game is over
but outside running plays or any active play and you risk getting a penalty which stops the clock
lost is totally on the coach - he doesn't know how to play the game with the clock

This is exactly what I thought we would do. Why risk a fumble or, dare I say a holding penalty to stop the clock.
I've been a Garrett supporter but I got to say this was poor game management and it bit us in the butt.

Anything beyond two is too much. He's morbidly afraid of trying to outright win the game with his offense and potentially turning it over in the process. He'd rather lose than be personally "responsible" for his unit's failure.

You know why the lions won? They seem to know how to go to their playmakers. They seem to know how to get the ball to calvin johnson. They don't wait until he's completely wide open because the qb knows that calvin can go up and get the ball... somehow that eludes romo and garrett. I think this game lost the locker room.

Taking 3 kneels would have been a solid option too. Running the ball and getting a flag was worst case scenario stuff.

Three knees and a pooch punt. The game is over.

Please.

They did more than enough to win the game and that's all you can ask from them. The late game decisions by Jason Garrett today were inexcusable. I'm not saying he needs to be fired but his seat should be warming up as we speak.
Excellent post

Garrett didn't get the holding penalty that stopped the clock with 47 seconds left. Garrett did a good job of managing the game.

Did they? 10pts off of 4 turnovers? a defense that gives up 600+yds, including another 400+yd passer and a 300+yd receiver? You can't pin it all on the coaching. You have to hold players accountable.

Ultra conservative playcalling is one thing, but poor, poor execution is 100% on the players.

he is scared, that skins game completely ruined him and every road game we have this pathetic plan on how not lose but we are relying on this banged up defense to make a play and they can only do so much.
