I'll let you settle your roll a bit before digging in here on this topic. I'm sure you'll still be worked up about it later in the week. Maybe in your after-every-loss poll thread about our relative satisfaction with the head coach?

I can see trying to convert there, too, but running the clock out is an option a lot of coaches would have taken. An incompletion on 2nd and 13 would have been even worse.

It was the holding penalty on a running play that killed us there. I'd buy the argument that the offense should never be getting a holding flag in that situation and that that's ultimately on the head coach, if that's the argument you care to make.

You go for one first down, even if you have to pass it. Yes, an incompletion stops the clock. But playing not to lose and having Tanner run it was stupid. He has "fresh" legs, but he's cold. It was just stupid game management.

You have to know what every second means, how every play impacts the clock. Garrett doesn't get that. He hasn't been able to grasp it for 3 years. It's not like this is his first time, just like this isnt' the first thread on the topic either. It's a habit, not a process.

The ultimate conservative playcalling would have ended the game. Almost no chance of a penalty and about 20 seconds left for a high punt...

How did he not know this? serious question

Not only that but you eliminate possibility of turnover or run out odd bounds. The only thing thogh: I guarantee the Lions would've got in field goal range and tied it.

The truth is we were lucky to even be in the game. Detroit practically handed it to the Cowboys. They badly out played them.

after the first two runs, he should have take a knee on third down

Honestly, the entire offensive philosophy is just whacked. We are not a running team, especially with Murray out. Why in the world do we keep trying to run the ball on 1st down? Thats a dumb idea by the coaches. Garrett needs to play to win rather than try not to lose. That is what cost us the game. Heck, we should have gone for it on 4th down. Dumb coaching all around.

No. You do not down the ball in that situation. The only way you down the ball is if it guarantees the lions will not get it back.

You can't blame garret for everything. How you could blame him on that play calling is ridiculous.

At some point you have to blame the players. They are the reason we lost. Stupid plays in crucial situations.

I don't understand why they didn't at least kneel it on third down. Very frustrating to lose another game, at least in part, because of coaching. Players are still responsible for their own play. Too many guys off the street and bad coaching decisions leads to losing after being +4 in turnovers. One of the worst collapses I've ever seen this team suffer.

Surprised there's not much complaining about Tyron. That hold was so bad as if he never heard of the rule before

I blame Garrett on that. For not drilling it into their heads or have someone do it for him before that play.

Oh that's right. Our head coach did not even know the rule. You could see him asking about it on tv. So how do you expect a young player to know it?

We are so lost with this coach.

Since the hold was declined, shouldn't the Cowboys been allowed to run time off the clock before they kicked the fg? I'm baffled because the offense got punished for a declined hold. It didn't count.

Had they accepted it they wouldn't have put any more time on the clock. Just the way it works.

This guy has cost Dallas too many games in just his little time as being HC. He spews all this garbage about RKG he's the wrong kind of coach. I wish Jerry was type of guy to just bite the bullet and Roll with Marinelli as Interim coach. Thats all i have to say about that clown.

Romo and all the people involved in this offense were putrid today. This defense have them the first 3 Quarters to put this game away. Turnover after Turnover and nothing. From Romos bad throws to Dez acting like a idiot on the sidelines, they are a disgrace to this team.

The DEF just got tired. Plain and simple. They stopped the Lions over and over and over again

drives

5 plays 16 yrds 2:49
7 plays 37 yrds 4.20
3 plays 0 yrds :26
3 plays 4 yrds 1:10
9 plays 45 yrds FG 4:37
3 plays 4 yrds TD :52
5 plays 22 yrds 2;17
6 plays 17 yrds 2:39
4 plays 0 yards :56

Man IDK how these coaches still have jobs. Im not even going to say Romo didnt have time because he did. Sure there was pressure on him at times but Alot of this was Romos undoing. He was just horribly inaccurate all day. TW dropped some passes that were catchable aswell. Dez was just a D-bag today. He turned into a Me player. And im sure it was because CJ was burning the place up. It was all about the show up. He wasnt saying get these throws on target to Romo, but get me the ball. Throw it to me. DET put a double on this guy all game long. The end of the game was a clear reason why you need a running game.

Carr got beat up today plain and simple. Dallas left him one on one and it didnt hurt Dallas until the end. They shouldve had double on CJ instead of that crappy zone. By that time tho this DEf was gassed. The offense blew a great performance by the defense. MO getting hurt played a big part in it too.

JG, Callahan and the rest of that O staff are just utter garbage.

Or should he have run it four times? Pass on the long FG and keep the clock running? What exactly did Garrett screw up? Someone spell it out please.....

Did they? 10pts off of 4 turnovers? a defense that gives up 600+yds, including another 400+yd passer and a 300+yd receiver? You can't pin it all on the coaching. You have to hold players accountable.

Ultra conservative playcalling is one thing, but poor, poor execution is 100% on the players.

Well when you keep running the ball on 1st down even though when the safeties are up at the LOS is shows the lack of coaching ability. Execution can only go so far if the coaches put the team in the right situation. Garrett failed with that.

I don't like suggesting people should be fired, but we need a new HC.
