It is sad to have all these 1st rds picks on Defense and still they suck. Do you think it is the players or scheme? All The players we drafted played in a 4-3. We drafted them because they were good in a 4-3..so we change them in a 3-4...maybe thats why we suck. Put the players back what they were good at..4-3.Bring in Zimmer,Mike Singletary(very vocal and emotional), How about Dave Wannstedit as DC(he was great)

Do you remember when the Ravens Defense was great? 4-3..then they changed to a 3-4 and it wasn't never the same...UNTIL they went back to a 4-3.)

IMO, the problem is more the players and team philosophy than the scheme. Players are not as talented as they think, and are no where near as disciplined as they should be. Coaches share the blame b/c the D looks unprepared against weak teams and the in-game adjustments have been sub-par if any at all.


All the impact players on D were brought in for the 3-4. Ware, Spears, Canty, Ratliff, Hatcher, Spencer, even the bust (Carp) were all brought in to play the 3-4.


Using the Ravens as an analogy, if it was just the scheme then the Ravens would have sucked when they went to a 3-4, they didn't. They were not all world like they were under Marvin Lewis, but the Ravens have always fielded a top 10 D. If it were the scheme, then Lewis would not be having so much problems in Cincy with his D. It comes down to the players. The Raves were great for few seasons (like the Bears) but have been consistently good regardless of scheme. The leadership on the field has not changed at its core. Ray Lewis, McCallister, even Ed Reed, all true leaders and Ray is as fiery as you get. LBs and DL have come and gone, but the organization always restocks w/high energy catalytic proven production players. The constant is Ray Lewis.

Wade spent all summer high fiving these guys and telling them how good they are, now all he can do is stand with his thumb up his butt - as we realize why this man has never been able to get professional athletes to play to their potential.

Difficult to state it any better than others have done. I opened this thread expecting a bunch of incoherent arguments after a terrible loss, but what I found was some very sound reasoning from some of the best posters on CZ.

I'm on-board. Wade was brought in as Mr Fix-it and hasn't done the job. The team isn't responding to him. Worst of all, this is clearly (on paper) the most talented team in the NFL and Wade is just not capable of utilizing their talent.

I hope I wake up Monday morning to coach Jason Garrett, and this team runs off a 12-0 win streak that takes us to the promised land.

Coach Doofus needs to go! That man just stands on the sideline doing completely nothing. I never see him communicate on his headset. He never talks to the players, (to either encourage them or get after them). He never communicates with his coaches face to face. Firing him would send a message to the other coaches letting them know that they could easily be gone as well. They should also cut players that have caused problems on and off the field. Cut Adam "I'll never learn" Jones. Cut Roy Williams the Safety. Every time he is playing, he gets beat! Cut Carpenter, it is his, (& Anderson's) fault that our punter has a broken foot. Let the players know that dumb ***** on the team will no longer be tolerated. Like most of you, I look forward all week long to watch the Cowboys play. However, I have been disappointed most of this season. The low-point being this afternoon.

it sounded to me like wade has already mailed it in..."we didn't look like a team that can turn it around." EXACT QUOTE.

i'm not sure a coaching change in the middle of the season can save things...and by save things i mean win the SB b/c that is what was expected when the season began.

this team has a ton of problems...and it's not just limited to the defensive side of the ball. example...no leaders, way too many penalties...etc...etc

that being said, i sure as heck dont want a coach who says crap like that in the post game. imo...it cant get any worse firing wade, making garrett interim and going after cowher in the off-season. i guarentee cowher would not put up with the type of crap we have seen for 4 straight games
