*** Official Jason Garrett Thread ***

Not true.

The criticisms from the Wade teams came from the team looking wholly unprepared for the fundamentals of football.

This team plays hard for 60 minutes. That's not debateable. Yes, they get penalties, but it's almost always on hustle plays now.

So they play hard. If the end result is the same and you still have guys who have no clue where to line up (Ogletree), guys who don't know the situation (Choice running OB a few games ago), and guys who can't remain disciplined enough to prevent hurting the team (Romo) what does it really matter?

Sure, they play hard but they still commit the same stupid penalties and errors they've been committing for a while.

He gets guys to play hard but can't instil discipline and situational awareness. Sounds like the perfect job for a cheerleader.

So he knows they cant run, but he calls 3 straight running plays trying to milk 3 min off the clock sitting on a 3 point lead with Brady standing on the other sideline?

What a complete joke Garrett is, playing scared.

He attempted to run the ball because that's what your supposed to do in that situation. You want to milk the clock. The Cowboys just don't have the personal to get that done. Just think if we had a quality OL that could run block we would not be talking about this right now.

Just going on the assumption that Dez doesn't -- you can still tell him what to do if he doesn't know the plays.

Yeah, it's backyard football, but I'll take "hey Dez, I'm going to throw it up to you toward the corner" over a shovel pass on the 5 yard line 7 days out of 7.
I don't disagree but there's too many plays where Dez is rounding off routes and Romo looks at him befuddled. Maybe if he's not the first option he looses concentration. That or defenses figure out how to cover him after the first quarter.

LOL@ people blaming Rob Ryan. :lmao2:

What a joke. Ryan set up Garrett to be a winner today and Red ***** blew it again.

The offense constantly looks disorganized, clueless and down right disappears for long stretches of the game. This has been a hallmark of Garrett's tenure here. It just doesn't get fixed.

Yep and it won't because Jason Garrett is callin plays.

Most of you are too fair weather to be cowboy fans. You complain when he throws the ball with a lead and you conplain when he runs the ball with a lead.
Oh and dont forget the GOD like Rob Ryan whose ELITE defense have given up final drive touchdowns the last 2 games when we had a lead.

All you guys who said you were through with Garrett and the Cowboys go away dont even post anymore.

See multiple posts above about situational football.

Penalties only on hustle plays now? Oh boy the Kool-Aid has gotten out of control

Garrett's play calling has always been suspect.

Done with this team just done, I cant do this anymore. Everyone one of them are worthless and just need to go away, far away and never come back.
You're going to miss out on an 8-3 team from here on out.
Adios

Not if we're still chaotic in the redzone/situanional playcalls.

Back to Fargo again 'you got that right'.

I didn't like seeing them punt there, but I can't complain about them running on 3 straight downs. The defense was doing well enough I think it was the right move. Credit to Brady/Patriots

I think the concern should be that this offense just doesn't have the ability to run out the clock. 3:36....just like that jets game. no turnover, but still, a lead that late, Dallas should be able to run out the clock and they just can't do it

The Quest for Six;4182562 said:
take a wild guess, how many times did Dallas actually attack and throw into the endzone today, anyone know that answer??

Zero? maybe I missed a couple plays, but I doubt it

I am being super sarcastic of course, but what do really need -- an all-pro guard, an all-pro center, and a 'hammer' at tailback, will we be good then?

No kidding.

Rob Ryan takes a guy off the street and makes him fit in. Jason has veterans and highly priced / touted picks to work with and he can't get the results he should.

And who is responsible for the mess of an OL?

Three minutes to go, New England has all three timeouts and the two-minute warning, and we go into kill-the-clock mode. Absolutely idiotic decision by Garrett that lost us the game. It didn't lower New England's odds of winning one iota, and we'd have been effectively no worse off had we thrown three incompletions there. Garrett should be fired for this debacle.
Hind-sight is 20-20. If we had thrown the ball incomplete without getting a first down, how many would be screaming we should have run? We got beat by a hall of fame QB. End of story.

JG showed tonight that he has absolutely no feel for the game. The play calling on that last drive looked like nothing more than a response to the criticism he took after the Detroit game. Like..."OK, you all said I should run more, so here, I'm going to run three straight times" with a total disregard for the flow of the game and what had been working on offense.

Pathetic.
This exactly

I'm sure in 11 pages what needs to be said has been said..but to add my 2 cents.

This loss in squarely on Garrett. His balls shriveled today when they needed to get big. It is like he doesn't know how to react to situations. When they Cowboys have big leads he things aggressive is the thing to do. When the Cowboys are in a game like today against a killer team and QB he shrinks. They needed a TD on that last series and that shovel pass was a FG set up. The last series was a horrible. People can play false starts or whatever bu the one thing Garrett was supposed to bring was discipline and a team ready to play all 4 quarters. Instead the 4th quarter in the losses has been filled with mental mistakes and issues. That is coaching and getting players in shape to finish. I've tried to ignore it and think that the team will work it out but Red is the elephant in the room now.

That's actually my point. Wade Philips received all the blame, but I felt JG received a free pass last year. Now, he can not escape it as the HC.

I love him as a head coach but not so much as a play caller

What has he shown you as HC? That he's better than Wade? So what?

Better than terrible is nothing.
