If I'm going to pick over scraps, best to start at the top.

The fact is that not one of the players we have on this defense would start over their counterpart in Seattle.

Not one.

A sobering fact.

So if we can scoop up someone close to that level who didn't make their cut may mean we actually do improve and close that gap.

not a fit here, way undersized.. we desperately need a tank in the middle

as a longhorn I hope he catches on somewhere, but I don't think he could help Dallas

Terrell Thomas would be a better pick up IF he could stay on the park and Seattle cut both today.

Thomas played every game last season though in saying that.

Ah. Back when we were counting on Ware, Ratliff, Crawford, and Anthony Spencer? That makes more sense.

That was a lifetime ago.

How did they not see those losses coming? Simply investing in a high quality fortune teller would have helped us plan for that. Inexcusable.

Their counterparts in Seattle are not the ones being cut. And Jeffcoat isn't close to that level. I'm not opposed to taking a look, but the sobering fact is Jeffcoat went undrafted and hasn't even made it to the final cuts. I think that shows he isn't close to their level.

A vet gets cut at this point and it is because his team knows he won't make the 53 - they want to let the guy move on as they want to see other guys in the last preseason game.

A UDFA gets cut at this point and it means he isn't even good enough for consideration on the (now) 10 man practice squad. That isn't a guy who is going to make any sort of impact on our squad.

That is how I see it, too. Funny how a single week can make a difference. Making it to final cuts provides a little bit of insight on how a team views the player and their potential.

He was a progress stopper, anyway. We liked Melton and McClain. Nothing wrong with that. It's just a shame we weren't able to get a good DT earlier in the draft.

Melton is coming off an ACL and McClain wasn't resigned to an exclusive rights contract by the Texans and you say nothing wrong with that?

Does give him a couple of days to find a team interested without the chaos of all those cut Tuesday. Not sure that makes a difference in his case.

Then you say there was...prove one's case other than they didn't and he couldn't...
