I really doubt it's that serious that he would need surgery, which is why he would be out that long

So in the worst case (Dunno if thats an expression that you use in English) he will be back for the start of the season.

You know, both sites are large enough that you are going to have a voice from the Idiot Brigade. There's just no getting around it unless you ban more than you keep.

That being said, I wish so many didn't feel the need to pick posts from these folks (on either side) and report back to another site that "ES" or CZ" is saying ... blah, blah, blah. These folks may reflect negatively on a site, but they aren't the be-all end-all.

OK ... off my soap box and back to the game. :)

Which is why I said that ES.com for the most part was very classy about the situation.

No, worst case scenario is he displaced his clavicle upwards which causes heavy ligament damage and would require surgery. It would be a year before he could even think about playing again.

That being said, I really doubt that's the case

How many of those touches were in year one alone?

He's had around 380 touches both seasons. 340 carries the first year and 350 the second. That's a major, major, major workload on his bodyframe. He's not the Emmitt Smith or Curtis Martin type of guy who shifts to avoid big hits. He's got a kamikazee style and he takes on a lot of tacklers.

Cripes! I remember his first year that he had too many touches, but I had NO IDEA he repeated it, even exceeded that last year.

Portis will NEVER complete a full season, and will most likely begin experiencing season enders soon. Wooow.

Emmitt was amazing. The fact that he touched the ball so many times, yet stayed healthy.

Tiki Barber had more touches then Portis last year, and Barber is over 30.

Wow, I wish I could come out and say the usual "this is only preseason statement", but this is almost too bad for even.

Im really worried about Portis. We are in deep trouble if it turns out to be really serious.

The only thing that would make me a little optimistic about this game would be for campbell to come in and play in. But even then, it would still be a horrible game

But Barber's career hasn't been defined by such a workload like Portis. Portis will probably be this way as long as Gibbs is there, and even under Shanahan he touched it a lot.

oh, and HH, just for clarification, Chris Clemons didn't tear is ACL, but sprained it, accoring to Commanders.com. so it doesnt seem as serious as originally thought, but still bad

Campbell in, I'm pretty sure you could actually hear him go "Oh!!!" when he realized he didnt have Cadillac and Ronnie Brown behind him

The saving grace has been the defense...Cincinatti had negative yardage against our starters. Palmer wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Campbell is showing that at the very least he should be 2nd string, which is a good sign.

That was a FANTASTIC THROW....but it was FANTASTIC COVERAGE at the last second, too.

How can you say that after what, 4-5 throws? Not that I'm disagreeing, considering Collins' outing...but come on.

oh, i didnt see that report, did they report that during the game??

It was the report they provided during the game. Said he sprained his ACL and tore a different knee ligament
