This is a good point. Just because it popped back in doesnt mean it will stay there, the ligaments are so loose after a separation nothing stays in place

Reports coming out of Commanders training staff according to their radio and ES is that it is a subluxation of the shoulder, which doesnt seem possible, but if so that is BAD news

you sound like you know what your talking about with all the shoulder stuff, could you elaborate on what exactly that would mean for portis???

I remember one of my favorite players back in the day, Chris Webber, had that problem. He had to have the surgery to finally get it corrected.

My uncle is one of the top chiropractors in Texas, and I just pick up stuff from him (especially when I injured my ankle in HS).

A shoulder subluxation is a temporary dislocation/separation of the shoulder joint. It is often found in people who have seizures and their muscles and ligaments contract violently, throughing the shoulder out of place. It isnt common among football players though (not sure why), though it can happen by simple acts such as throwing a ball around

The point is, this type of separation usually means that along with the misplacement of the joint, muscles and/or ligaments are stretched and are either damaged or torn, and often needs surgery. It depends on the severity of the ligament damage, the separation alone isnt much to worry about with a month to go before the season starts.

I doubt it's what happened to Portis
