I can't believe they're making a show about Pam and Tommy.

The GoT clone is an unfair comparison. Both series' presentation are similar but they are still worlds apart. Game of Thrones was legendary (at least until the final season). The Wheel of Time should be allowed to grow its mythos as well. Maybe it will never be great but it should have the opportunity to become more than it already is.

I finally finished watching it and I was really not very impressed with it at all. The first several episodes were so boring that I never finished any one of them in a single sitting.

From a production standpoint, it was nowhere near GoT and the acting and storylines pale in comparison. At best I would put it in the same category as Emerald City or the Shannara Chronicles (the TV show, the books were great), but if I had to watch them or WoT over again, I would choose both of them over WoT.

Maybe other people liked it and if so, that is great, but I was expecting something a lot better than what I watched.

They'll make a show about anything. They were tabloid magnets for a little while. Now they’re hoping to capitalize on that disaster again. People love a train wreck!

Well, my opinion of "tv show quality" will differ from others if my opinion of "movie quality" is any indication (just check out some of the commentary directed at my reviews in the Rate The Last Movie thread ). I am trying not to think very much of Lord of the Rings series to keep from getting too hyped before its debut.

Oh please no! I’m so waiting for the LOTR series.

If the money invested = quality, it will be significant.

However, they gave Peter Jackson a much larger budget for The Hobbit and they CGI'd that unmercifully and even made a cartoon Smaug.

That surprised and disappointed me. How they managed to take better technology and a bigger budget and make far worse films with much worse special effects.

According to what I've read, Jackson didn't even want to do it because he knew exactly why they were doing it and stretching one novel into three films, make the money while it's hot. It's like so many sequels trying to capitalize, just like the Matrix did.

I've watched LotR so many times and getting ready to watch it again, I've seen all the mistakes but they were human ones with having the little Frodo's wig on wrong or the different scruffy looks of Aragon out of timeline.

I saw the overuse of CGI with the Orcs and Smaug and was very disappointed, it really isn't that great CGI for the budget they had.

When Tolkien's descendant and spokesperson for the family saw LotR, he gave his blessing and was pleased with the way it had been done. I never saw anything form him about The Hobbit. And The Hobbit isn't bad, it just could have been so much better.

I am only on Episode 4 now but after the first 3 it looks like it is heading in the direction of "Cursed". Which I think was cancelled after 1 season. It was okay but the problem with these female leads who become warriors is they looks slow and weak wielding swords and fighting bigger guys. It comes off as contrived. I hope the Witcher does not venture down that road too far.

Amazon settled any issue with The Wheel of Time being renewed for a second season seven months ago. The dissatisfaction is growing for the series. There may be a season three announcement by June before we know it.

Just watched episode 1 of Boba Fett. Thought it was pretty good and the series shows promise.

I found it interesting as well. It was a neat idea to split past and present.

I was very happy that they quickly addressed his escape from the Sarlaac pit. And now I’m intrigued by the Bacta tank he has to rest in. I’m guessing it’s due to the damage he suffered in the pit (stomach). He looked pretty cooked between that and the desert.

Like most series, they set up several threads with the group of attackers, the ‘biker gang’, and the flashbacks of his time with the Tuscan Raiders.

Fett's continuing evolution into an anti-hero that began in The Mandalorian was balanced very well. On one hand, he became a savior for the Tusken youngster and gained the respect from the tribe. On the OTHER hand, Fett did not blink blowing up one of the street attackers into smithereens trying to escape scaling a wall.

I think it is imperative of Lucasfilm/Disney to build upon the character differences between Fett and The Mandalorian. Mandy is a hero with a shadowy past. Boba's bounty hunter career is a complex mix of unsavory choices, revenge, and tainted reputation, which is undergoing a transformation into a "respected" warlord who will still kill to achieve his lofty goals.

His Sarlaac experience was unquestionably a life-changing moment for him. I think now Fett wants redemption by re-creating himself within the "virtuous" memory he has always held for his father, Jango. It should be really interesting how many layers this legendary bounty hunter will gain during the series' run. The ceiling is pretty high. Just depends how much imagination will be utilized building him up.

I'm enjoying the series so far, but I hope you're not just giving the writers too much credit for the depth of the character.

There is a ton of workable, pre-The Mandalorian background material for the writers to pull from, including novels, comics, animated series (although I would not argue a cartoon label), and movies. The character's brief stint in Mandy's show demonstrated some writer imagination. This first episode did as well. Perhaps they can be defined as small steps but the writers do deserve credit for what they have generated thus far in my opinion.

One thing is beyond doubt at this initial stage.. Boba is now MUCH more than a simple infamous intergalactic bounty hunter. Just my opinion.

Off-topic: I doubt much could be done with the Bossk character, even though it would blow my mind if Lucasfilm/Disney re-introduced Chewy's arch-nemesis.

If I had to guess they already filmed season two or much of it when they filmed season one, so this was inevitable.

While I was not impressed with the show, I am always happy when networks commit to at least two seasons of a show for many reasons but mostly because I hate shows that end without some type of closure for all of the storylines introduced.

It bothers me even when shows I do not like or watch get prematurely canceled because I know that just means it could happen to shows I like as well.

That is why I rarely watch any new shows until two seasons have come out or at the very least a second season has been announced.

Most of the time I just wait though because it got really bad there for a while with networks canceling shows with cliffhangers or unfinished stories that were popular but simply had the wrong demographic or they had too many shows with overlapping demographics or they thought they could make more money from newer original and/or self-produced shows.
