Does anyone else have a bad feeling about the Lord of the Rings series? Watching that trailer, I see more Hobbit and less Rings. And that’s not a good thing.

Despite advances in technology and increased budget, I felt the Hobbit series was far worse than the original trilogy. The effects looked too ‘clean’ and therefore faker and I think it looks much the same in this trailer. Part of making things look real is to have some dirt on ‘em and a works that looks lived in. This trailer looks sterile.

it is very very difficult to “do another” of a type esp when it has been done superbly in the past. And it is not just how well they were done but that it had never been done before so the combination is just very difficult to overcome. That’s why there will never be another LOTR or Game of Thrones.

I am waiting for cgi/animation to overtake real acting in quality. I do not think it will be much longer.

Movies taking years to make and decades for series are hindered by short plot lines. You can see it in actors aging, especially if they are immortal or have long life spans.

The ability to create and reuse worlds, characters, landscapes, etc within a movie or show series will improve the whole experience and shorten the movie creation process.

When they can put out 15 star wars films covering a whole war including all the battles, training, different character plots, etc, and overcome the aging actor and filming time problems all movies we be up for remake and will be able to be done better

Just finished Ozark season 4 Part I, very good really have liked this series. While it's not as good as Breaking Bad or The Wire, still a very good watch, really looking forward to Part II of the season

As a HUGE JRR Tolkien nerd.I am totally geeked out over this. If you read The Silmarillion you most likely are watching it.
This is where it all began.

. ..........

This series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings," and takes viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared reemergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

I hope there is some time spent showing how the weapons, armor, and cities of old were crafted and built. Elven blades and cities, armor, mithril armor and dwarf cities, etc.

history of the Ents , (trees that can talk and move) "behold the assyrian" type of stuff

I’m hopeful that it’s great. But the trailer looked a bit too ‘clean’ to me.

it looks great to me, they are doing amazing computer work now

Were the great cities built in the first age or 2nd in the lore? There is a great city built in the preview, so I am guessing they were first age.

I read the hobbit when I was small and I have watched the movies, but I don't know the lore behind LOTR. I wonder if it follows the Bible/mythology/remnants of architecture that is on the earth of great cities, hybrids, etc

HBO did a biopic on Tolkien and his days at Exeter College at Oxford and just what influenced him and the images of the time that brought about Middle Earth. It is very interesting to see him sketching those images and just what brought that about with his first-hand experiences during WW1.

Thanks, I will have to find that and watch it.

My wife and I are in the middle of watching Crash into You on Netflix. It is kind of a Schitts Creek accidently goes to North Korea. You have to deal with the subtitles but you get used to it. It is not one you can multi task while watchin because the writing is so good, you will miss a lot of laughs. I am old so i have subtitles on everything I watch. Still, the show is pretty good. If you watch it just to see the beautiful Korean women then you dont even need sound. The humor reminds me of Schitts Creek but there is a lot more drama. I was not sure after watching the 1st episode that I thought was kind of cheesy but by end of the 2nd I was hooked. Of course my wife loves it. It is a chick flick so definetly include the wife. Beautiful scenery, beautiful women, good writing, funny and heart felt scenes. Also, it is about a clean of show as I can remember. No cursing, no sex scenes. Who knew you could make a show like that anymore and it would still be good?

Netflix Texas Chainsaw movie. I like the spin they put on it.
Not terrible but not great. Better than some of the older ones they have done over the years.
If you like the Chainsaw movies I am sure you will be ok with this one.

New Season of Space Force is on.
If you liked the first season you will enjoy this one (only three episodes in). If you did not like the first one, you will not like this season as the humor is about the same.

The second half of the Star Trek Discovery season is on Paramount (2 episodes) and I enjoy them as I normally do.

Did they just add this?

Side note: The original house used for the original TCM was sold, moved to Kingsland, TX and became a restaurant.

Was I suppose to cheer for Leatherface....because they sure made that pretty easy.

Agreed, wasn't terrible - wasn't great. Appears they went the Halloween route and this was a direct sequel to original and all the other ones do not exist.

They sorta threw in the tie to the original in there - felt like it was forced.
