Unless someone makes us a sweetheart offer I cant help but have the feeling Jerry may find a reason to keep Tony.
Imagine the sports world if Jerry sits Dak down for a season and lets Tony play. Yikes. That would be interesting to say the least.

More like a total disaster that would shread the team in two.
Move on from Tony, it's over.

Cannot believe some fans clamor for an aged QB who never even sniffed a divisional game or the Super Bowl in 11 years. Does Romo love qualify for the theory that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is madness?
I cannot wait to leave the futile past behind and see what this offensively-loaded team can do WITH defensive additions!

You act like Brady would have a ring with this clown show of an organization

Alright, so lets accept reality. Either Romo won't be wearing the star come September 2017 or we've lost our minds..

So does he leave as a free agent or via a trade?

Well, based on recent QB deals, a trade seems quite feasible...

To me the most realistic trade that I am supporting is Romo for Revis + 2017 second rounder.

I think this deal is feasible and desirable for both sides. Claiborne and Jones have the physical talent, but have never had anyone to learn from in the NFL. This trade could make us a dynasty, if Claiborne and Jones develop.

I know it would be great to get a draft pick for Tony, but its more beneficial, if we cut him June 1st, besides teams know this. So my question is do we end up trading or releasing Tony??
how is it beneficial? They get alot of cap that will just sit there. Dallas will need under 4mil i think to sign their whole draft class. Dallas can save 5.1mil this yr on the ca and be done with his dead money. That frees up a whole lot of money in 2018 for martin and Collins. Teams who need a QB dont sit fora QB like Tony. Fans who like to play monopoly with the owners money seem to think teams will wait for a QB. Look how it worked out for the Vikings, they had to give up a 1st and 4th for a walking injury in Bradford. Dont think a team like the jets who drafted Hackenburg in the 2nd with weapons on offense and a great defense wont come calling for Romo early.

No lower than a second

They have to maximize this asset

I know it was timing but the Eagles got a 1st for what's his name. That dude could put Michael Irvin, Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp to sleep.

No intangibles

Get a first

I think Revis is done. Corners/S, LB and OL can live off rep for years.

A 2018 first is possible... we aren't getting a 2017 first unless it is a pick taking place after #20ish.

Revis + a 2nd in 2017 is a win-win trade for both sides.... pull the trigger ASAP. A mentor for our young, physically gifted secondary, and another early 2nd rounder to round out our defense.... or maybe another receiver.

I'm good with the 20's

Maybe first rd. swaps plus a second or 3rd
I would prefer Revis or another secondary beast that can serve as a mentor to Jones, Claiborne, etc;.

Swaps does nothing for me this year unless it gets us to #1 with the DE from Texas... honestly no one else that is eye popping. This is a trade down year in my book.

There might be a team(that Romo would play for) who offers a draft pick to stay out of a bidding war. Denver won't because they have a good chance to sign him when released.

Buffalo, Jets, Texans, KC, etc could offer something just to have that chance to get him. I can't see anything better than a 3rd rounder but who knows.

Instead of a pick, which is unlikely, get me the best defensive player they can get in exchange for Romo's services

Revis is done. No point in bringing him in.

Whatever the compensation, it will need to be worth 9 million in cap space to justify trading over designating a June 1 cut.

I'm on your wavelength...

I also believe Revis for Romo is a deal the Jets would get behind with ease.

Agree about Revis.

That extra 9 million is gained in 2018, so it isn't like they are losing it.

A renegotiated deal that gives Romo more guaranteed money, he has 0 right now and also gives DAL immediate and substantial cap relief........in return DAL gives a say to Romo in picking his new team

DAL gets less of a draft pick by narrowing the field but they don't have to wait until June 1st to make a deal and they get the pick in 2017 not next year....plus they save 13m on the cap in March when they need it

A potential deal would have Romo lowering his base salary to 1m with a 10m trade activated option bonus and 250k a game roster bonus.......all guaranteed........also 5m of his 10m 2018 base salary would be guaranteed but not his 250k a game roster bonus

If traded he gets 15m and if he stays he gets 5m to be the backup

Are you talking extension?
I think that makes the most sense to get his cap figure down.
It may narrow the field, but I actually dont think so.
Romo could always retire so the team trading for him would have to consider that anyway.
So Romo gets input either way.

I was discussing this with some of my friends earlier today. I would give Romo and our 1st round pick to the Texans for JJ watt. That would put us over the hump. And Texans had #1 defense this year with watt missing the entire season so they've seen they can function good on defense without him.

I might make that trade honestly.... risky, however..

They might take it..

With Jaylon returning, we could find ourselves with a strong defense under such a scenario... but our secondary would still cost us big moments
