For the millionth time....releasing him is the stupidest thing we could do

We get no extra cap relief, we tear up a top draft pick and we help a potential playoff opponent for free

Yes.

I would sit a young gun quarterback who makes very few mistakes and all he does is wins games in spite of his head coach...

For an...

older QB who is mistake and injury prone.

Sounds like a good idea.
It may not make sense...but there is something in my gut that keeps saying that Jerry isn't done with Romo as our QB just yet.
I'd put the odds at 25/75 that Romo is our QB next year...but still something there.

I'm not saying this is the right thing to do....because it's not...
I'm not sure why you need to bash Romo in order to sell Dak though..Dak has done a good enough job selling himself.

Any talk of what Tony could have done is silly, it is all in your head, speculation that cannot be proven.

Tony lost to a gimpy Rodgers in 2014, Dak loses to a hot Rodgers, in 2016.
Dak scored more points than tony did, and lost on last second fg.
not saying dak or tony is better , they are too different to compare.

Smart thing is to look at the common denominator in both losses.
That would be JG and the OC & DC .......HMMMM
2 good qb's with strong run game, and playing GB, and lose both times, I say it is a coaches problem not
the players.
Rodgers caught them with 12 on the field early, how does that happen?? was it players fault or coaches?
Butler in huddle, again was it players fault or coaches?
Not going on 4th and 1 and taking fg, playing for fg at end , not getting elliot enough touches, etc was it players fault or coaches?

I say it was a coaches loss, but that is just my opinion.

I always liked tony, and he did get a raw deal this year, and sadly that was just how things worked out.

But again JG and linehan wanted to go with dak, so again was it players fault or coaches?

Tony will go to another team, and maybe he can win a SB elsewhere, I actually think he would have a better chance
elsewhere, like in houston good defense and no JG lol.
If Witten is smart he will go with tony if he wants a ring.

Cowboys will be back in playoffs next year , but I doubt they get past div round.
JG needs about 6 more years to figure that out. then another 6 for the next step and so on.

Great post, hale fellow!
Pls. Allow us to co-sign!
To speculate what Romo would have done is crazy and unfair to Dak, our future QB and the
Bloke who gave us (gives us) hope!

Cannot believe some fans clamor for an aged QB who never even sniffed a divisional game or the Super Bowl in 11 years. Does Romo love qualify for the theory that doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is madness?
I cannot wait to leave the futile past behind and see what this offensively-loaded team can do WITH defensive additions!

Well they are 26m under right now with Osweiler and a dozen contracts they can restructure

If someone takes on Osweiler it is an easy fit and not impossible if they keep Oz
And getting Watt back with Merciless and Clowney. Possible elite D, with Romo and a great young WR...if Romos back doesn't break

Just passing on a "writers" theory. I'm not a cap person, is that correct?

ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer ultimately expects Dallas to release Tony Romo this offseason.

While trading Romo is the Cowboys' "No. 1 priority," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it could be difficult for Dallas to find the compensation it desires when teams already know the Cowboys don't want him. Archer expects there to be "too many hoops to jump through" to pull off a trade, and the biggest one in particular will be how to swallow the massive $24.7 million cap hit. By designating Romo as a post-June 1 cut, the Cowboys could spread the cap hit out over the next two years and clear $14 million in 2017, allowing them resources to upgrade the defense.

sit Dak next year, let Romo start (until he gets injured since everyone is so sure it's going to happen)
I agree, let him have one last shot, and you have Dak there if he gets hurt or starts losing.
They have to pay him regardless, might as well play him.
I wouldnt trade him for less than a rd 1 pick, phil got that for bradford !

The other thing is many qb's have had one good season, like foles , rg, etc, and then avg the 2nd year, so Dak
could maybe not be winning 11 in a row next season.
keeping tony 1 more year is like insurance.
Once he is gone then your bkup is sanchez lol. good luck with that.

the new team is only responsible for 14m next year and none of it is guaranteed..... a little renegotiation would be easy

releasing him is the worst idea........it costs the same as a trade
