Cowher and Holmgren would be about as good as we could expect to get. The main drawback about Holmgren to me is his age. But I think when Jerry makes the decision he'll go with someone who already has NFL HC experience, unless he just promotes Garrett. :bang2:

I don't want Shanahan. Jerry in the draft room is bad enough, mix in Shanny and it's a total disaster. Plus Shanahan doesn't know defense or apparently any good defensive coordinators. And, like was already mentioned, he's used to smaller OL and system.

I can't see Jerry going out and getting one of these big name, controlling type coaches.

I think he's got his hands dirty in the last couple years and now has gone power mad. He constantly comments on everything as if he's the coach of the team. Parcells held him in check, he couldn't stand it, and now he's knee deep in quicksand and trying to dig himself out with his face.

I expect the next coach to be an unknown, nice, play along assistant who does what the real coach tells him to. Someone who idealistically thinks he can work within the Jerry Jones' system, but has no damn idea that this system is where coaches go and die a slow death.

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

btw, Stoops was UFlorida's D Coordinator under Spurrier, not the O Coordinator.

Very true.

And besides, to think Stoops would leave OU to be our OC is ridiculous. Not only would he not take the demotion, Jerry isn't going to pay an OC five million dollars a year.

The irony is that DeCamillis is Wade's hire. WHo would Wade have picked if he could choose his own OC? Just get rid of Garrett and see what Wade can do on his own...

He wouldn't be my pick, but I would think Todd Bowles will be a name tossed around in coaching circles. Assistant head coach and secondary coach in Miami. Bill Parcells disciple etc...

Hue Jackson the Ravens QB coach is another interesting guy. He did pretty well with Palmer in Cincinnati and Flaco in Baltimore. He certainly comes from a tough minded organization.

Regarding Gruden, other than Rich Gannon I don't see where he took a QB to the next level. Don't tell me Brad Johnson because that was a pure bus driver QB who had a perennially dynamic defense to lead that team to that championship. We're asking Romo to lead this team and take it to the next level, not be a bus driver.

Yes, I do realize the rest of the team has to produce as well, that goes for any football team that even has Peyton Manning or Tom Brady behind center. Especially those teams because those guys demand greatness and perfection.

You want a West Coast coach? No better than Walsh's understudy anyways. Shanny baby!!!! Worked with Montana and Elway. Remember how a title was eluding Elway with all of those great physical gifts he had? Shanny is the one who reached him mentally and got him to fulfill the legend his was meant to be.

Holmgren did a wonderful job with Favre but I'll take Montana and Elway over Favre any day. Shanny is the one that can give Romo what he's missing. Get him to reach his potential. He understands Tony and wanted to trade for him before they drafted Cutler and Romo was 4th string behind all the wash ups and never will be's we had on the roster. Parcells wouldn't let him go because Payton swore by Romo. Payton wanted him when he left, even though Brees was on the market as a FA. Couldn't snag him though.

There are only 3 guys around that are going to get Romo to where he could be and that's David Lee, Sean Payton or Mike Shannahan. Out of those three, looking to a championship? I take Shanny. Parcells couldn't even get Tony to where he could go at this point.

Shanny told Elway he was better than Montana before they won that first Superbowl. Whether he really believed it or not, he knew what it was going to take to get Elway to the next level of winning those championships. He found that motivational mechanism using Montana's legacy so that Elway could fulfill the legend he was supposed to become.

Only 1 coach in this league who has been more successful than Shanny the past 12 seasons. He's in New England right now. Cowher, Holmgren, Dungy and Gruden are 3rd, 4th and 5th fiddles to those 2. Coughlin, Reid and Fischer are the next batch after them. Shanny with some rest will be a monster. The game has not yet passed him by.

Add to the fact that Gruden won with Dungy's team (much like Switzer did with Jimmy's). As soon as Gruden "put his fingerprints" on that team and organization, they crumbled like a house of cards. There's a reason the former DB coach in Tampa is now the head coach.

Here we go again with the new coach wish lists...

It doesn't matter who we speculate on... As long as Jerry is around the new coach will be a yes man... Wake me when it's over.

Parcells was not a yes man.

Yeah. That worked well... That was Jerry stepping outside of his comfort zone. Do you really think he'll do it again? He manages to do it about every ten years...

Jimmy Johnson... Bill Parcells... So we should expect another epiphany in 2016. YAY...

Maybe maybe not. I guess my hope is that he'll see the Wade experiment for what it is and give his HC more authority. I think DeCamillis can be that guy.

But then, it is Jerry..

And if we happen to get hot for some reason and make a run, well then forget about any changes for better or worse

Don't know if Holmgren has the same intensity as Gruden, if anyone heard Gruden on MNF when we played the Panthers he certainly sounded like he wanted the HC job bad!

holmgren might look mild mannered but he is far from that. that dude can be friggin intense from some clips ive seen.
