***Official Who would/could/should be our next HC thread*** MERGED

If Jerry really wanted to tidy things up in Dallas, he would hire Marty Shottenheimer. His teams are usually are tough and disciplined, and he'd have no problems whatsoever calling out and benching players who aren't performing.

People point to his failure to win the "big games" but a lot of those games could've easily gone his way.

He isn't a flashy or sexy hire but sometimes that's not what a team and organization needs.

I want Urban Meyer, some will think i'm nuts but this guy just get it done where ever he's been. I invision Jimmy II with this guy.

Gruden for me and Holmgren #2. I don't want Cowher, I could see it turning into a big mess if it backfires even in the slightest bit. Plus every time we lose a game they will devote the entire hour of sportscenter to that mere occasion and I don't know if I could take that.

Plus I live in the cincy area and I don't want to hear about how Cowher is our coach every 5 minutes from bengals fans that are suddenly bengals fans again as of 5 minutes ago which is their born nature, I don't even like the bengals but I think I could tell you more about that team than any of their fans. All they can talk about is Johnson(I refuse to call him Ochocinco and how Carson Palmer is the real reason that team hasn't been good lately.(lol) I've brought up the role of Cedric Benson to about 5 "diehard" fans/friends of mine and they had no clue as to what the hell I was even talking about...you guys think our fans are bad...anyway...And steelers fans are just as common here in southwestern ohio for some stupid reason I can't explain and it just wouldn't be good for ME...lol

If he's the best guy for the job, let's do it...:donthear:

The one name I left off the list and I sure hope their "blowup" ruined any chance of it happening is Dan Reeves. I like the guy, just dont want him as a head coach.

Why do people keep asking for Dungy. He is retired and isn't going to return to coaching. He and Jimmy Johnson both said they are done and aren't coming back. I doubt they are Farve, Parcells, or Jordan in their retirements.

Neither of them look like they have any interest in returning to coaching.

Bryan Cox gets my vote.

D-Line Coach for the Browns, and former Stud MLB. Former Bill Parcells player and one crazy SOB.

Steve Spurrier...Make it happen Jerry.

I AM JOKING!

Regarding Gruden, other than Rich Gannon I don't see where he took a QB to the next level. Don't tell me Brad Johnson because that was a pure bus driver QB who had a perennially dynamic defense to lead that team to that championship. We're asking Romo to lead this team and take it to the next level, not be a bus driver.

Yes, I do realize the rest of the team has to produce as well, that goes for any football team that even has Peyton Manning or Tom Brady behind center. Especially those teams because those guys demand greatness and perfection.

You want a West Coast coach? No better than Walsh's understudy anyways. Shanny baby!!!! Worked with Montana and Elway. Remember how a title was eluding Elway with all of those great physical gifts he had? Shanny is the one who reached him mentally and got him to fulfill the legend his was meant to be.

Holmgren did a wonderful job with Favre but I'll take Montana and Elway over Favre any day. Shanny is the one that can give Romo what he's missing. Get him to reach his potential. He understands Tony and wanted to trade for him before they drafted Cutler and Romo was 4th string behind all the wash ups and never will be's we had on the roster. Parcells wouldn't let him go because Payton swore by Romo. Payton wanted him when he left, even though Brees was on the market as a FA. Couldn't snag him though.

There are only 3 guys around that are going to get Romo to where he could be and that's David Lee, Sean Payton or Mike Shannahan. Out of those three, looking to a championship? I take Shanny. Parcells couldn't even get Tony to where he could go at this point.

Shanny told Elway he was better than Montana before they won that first Superbowl. Whether he really believed it or not, he knew what it was going to take to get Elway to the next level of winning those championships. He found that motivational mechanism using Montana's legacy so that Elway could fulfill the legend he was supposed to become.

Only 1 coach in this league who has been more successful than Shanny the past 12 seasons. He's in New England right now. Cowher, Holmgren, Dungy and Gruden are 3rd, 4th and 5th fiddles to those 2. Coughlin, Reid and Fischer are the next batch after them. Shanny with some rest will be a monster. The game has not yet passed him by.

Singletary would have been perfect but they never even considered him when he interviewed. Maybe give Mike Nolan a shot. He's a 3-4 guy. He had a bad team in San Fran although Singletary turned it around. I would say Shanahan if he shows me he has a good plan in place for a DC. Romo needs someone who can take him to the next level but the defense needs to be good as well.

Why all the love for Ron Rivera? Yeah he is young, loud and was on the 80's Bears' team, but what the heck has he done at San Diego? Charger fans still miss Wade over there.

Remember, you have to 1) be young, and 2) show "fire".

Being any good is a very distant third.

John Gruden?

I think Gruden would get eaten alive by the media. The Cowboys aren't Tampa Bay or the Raiders. His quick temper and the way he sometimes says things without thinking would get his crushed by the media.

I think Gruden would be a horrible mistake. Anyone remember the Gruden / Keyshawn incident?

Randy Shannon. Former Cowboy, learned under Jimmy and very underated. I doubt he becomes a puppett for Jerry.

Umm, you forgot one little detail about all of that..

Terrell Davis.

I just am not on the bandwagon on getting a retread coach. I really am not. I'd rather go out and get a young and proven coordinator that has ambitions and determination to be a coach in this league. I didn't see the Jets or Ravens go out and get a retread. Nor did I see the Steelers go out and get one after Cowher left.

Like Gailey or Campo? oh wait

Won't even bother to check if it's been mentioned, but here's my total shot in the dark?

What about David Lee?

Joe DeCamillis or Ray Sherman = my vote, IF we're going there. Otherwise just promote Garrett and bring in a good offensive coordinator..Bob Stoops.

I'm quickly warming up to the DeCamillis idea. I don't know what scheme changes have taken place since he took over for Reed, but his guys seem to play harder for him than they do for either Wade or Garrett.

Not opposed to the WCO, but I'm not interested in Holmgren, Shanahan, Gruden, etc. nor am I interested in Cowher. I agree that we need to get a coach that can improve Romo (why is Wade Wilson still here?), but those WCO guys listed were terrible at personnel decisions and we need someone to offset the Jerry-factor there.

I'm a huge fan of Dungy's but even he didn't have considerable success until he got Tom Moore as his OC in Indy. It's easy to say now, but I was hoping we'd get Singletary or Rex Ryan over Wade. Of course, I was also on board with Garrett as the head-coach-in-waiting and that's not looking like a great idea at the moment.

btw, Stoops was UFlorida's D Coordinator under Spurrier, not the O Coordinator.

If not as head coach, bring him back to tutor Romo.
