Officiating crew for the game? Hochuli & Crew

What are u talking about? Hochuli did that payoff game. I remember reading his lips as he said "I don't care!" When another official was trying to explain that it was not grounding. That game has been replayed in my head too many times to count.

nah, it was Morelli

I'm glad Ed likes to flex, cause he needs to be using this symbol a lot on Saturday night, against the Eagles O-line that got away with murder last week.

This thread is ridiculous. Ed Hochuli is probably the best referee in the game.

If it wasn't for that blunder in the Chargers-Broncos game last year, nobody would be saying any of this right now. Same goes for Mike Carey - I have a lot of respect for him, although his crew seems to flag for hands to the face and illegal use of hands a little too much for my liking.

My bad. I remember thinking that Hochuli looked less buff that game, but I still thought that it was Hochuli. I'm glad I was wrong. Good that it's not Morelli for this game then. I'd like to think that Hochuli is more careful since his Denver debacle. Poor Ed. I've cursed his name countless times since that Giants game and it wasn't even him. :)

I agree. I have no problems with Hercules. Always thought he was very fair.

Funny, those are my two favorite crews as well.

Same here. Hochuli and Carey are the best in the league. I'm comfortable with both of them.

Officials breakdown - Ed Hochuli

Yes, it's true, Ed Hochuli's crew will be calling Saturday's wild-card game between the Cowboys and Eagles. Thankfully the doors and roof will be closed so we get to see Ed's guns when he calls some penalties.

And Jerry Jones didn't have kind words for Hochuli after the inadvertent whistle cost San Diego a win against Denver. And Tennessee's Jeff Fisher wasn't happy with him last week when he called what could be considered a dubious holding penalty that wiped out a 62-yard run by Chris Johnson, ending Johnson's chase for the NFL's single-season rushing record.

Last week Hochuli's crew was at the Tennessee-Seattle game. They called 17 penalties and 14 were accepted. Tennessee was flagged nine time for 76 yards, while the Seahawks had 40 yards on five penalties.

Here's the breakdown:

Unnecessary roughness - 1
Defensive pass interference - 1
Neutral zone infraction - 1
Invalid fair catch signal - 1
Blocking after fair catch signal - 1
False start - 2
Intentional grounding - 1
Delay of game - 1
12-men, defense - 1
Offensive holding - 4
Offside - 1
Running into the kicker - 1
Ineligible man downfield, kicking game - 1

Quarter-by-quarter breakdown:

First - 3
Second - 6
Third - 5
Fourth - 3

Oh ****, how the **** did we end up with the ref Jerry called out last year???

This is just our luck, we end up with a home playoff game and freaking Hercules with an axe to grind with Jerry is assigned to do the game.

This same ref last week wiped out a huge run by Chris Johnson on a total bs hold call. Johnson was 10 yards past the line and the flag for holding came out, Fisher went ****ing bananas!!! Apparently Fisher called out Hercules in his presser the next day about how multiple penalties that were called were wrong.

Any chance Hercules has forgot about Jerry calling him out last year???

Yea, right. We are going to get so ****ed over Saturday night. Of all refs, we get the guy Jerry pissed off, freaking priceless.

Dont you just know Hercules is going to look up at Jerry's sky box and say "**** you" and call every tick tack bush league penalty in the book.

WE ARE ****ED!!!

...the only calls of what you posted to be concerned about is the...

1 - Unnecessary Roughness, 1- Defensive pass interference and the 4 - Offensive Holding penalties.

The others would seem to be uncontestable. The fact that Fisher was on his tail for the holding would do us well.

thats pretty much what I thought when I looked at the list also. Who knows about the Unnecessary Roughness or PI so it really could just be the 4 holds. Either way if you don't make mental mistakes you limit your chances of penalties becoming a factor in the game.

LMAO

The game hasn't even started and we're already *****ing about the refs.

Pathetic.

I've always been an Ed Hercules fan. I'm glad he's doing our game.

You dont think he might be a little pissed off the way Jerry called him out last year???

You dont think he might be inclined to look a little harder at the oline for holding or to look a little closer at the contact with a wr for PI???

You dont think Hercules is thinking "**** YOU" to himself everytime he looks up at Jerrys sky box???

Dude, we will be playing both Philly and the refs Saturday. Lets just hope the game is not close enough for it to matter.

No, no, and no. I'm never going to buy "the refs are out to get us" thing.

When the ref just happens to be the guy Jerry called out, I dont think it is ridiculous to be a little concerned that he is not going to want some payback.

If somebody publicly emabarrassed you, the idea of maybe getting some payback would never enter your mind???

Not "refs in general", I am talking about the ref Jerry called out and publicly embarrassed in front of the whole league.

If you think that ref has totally forgotten about that, you are naive.

If you think that Ed is going to risk his job and reputation as a ref to blatantly screw us over in front of millions of fans/players/owners that will be watching, then you have a serious paranoia complex.

Just to refresh the memory of what Jerry actually said, which included nothing slanderous or derogatory to Ed personally:

On his weekly radio show on KTCK-AM 1310 (The Ticket), Jones said Hochuli "is quick to the draw" on throwing flags.

"His crew calls a lot of penalties," Jones said. "Maybe the answer is to tell people like that, 'Keep that whistle out of your mouth.'"

Jones said the league does not want a penalty called unless the infraction affects the play or threatens player safety.

"My gut here is the emphasis is going to have to be taking officials like that and getting somebody else if they're going to be penalty prone," Jones said. "Or, in that case, not penalties, but just too quick to call the play dead."

Hey you guys - give these officials a break, they have to cover their bets, too.

I dont know that its the refs out to get us, as much as I do think officials should start being investigated for ties to gambling. You cant make some of the calls and non calls we see made and write them ALL off as just "oh that got missed" or "incompetence"

But I also firmly DO believe there are some teams (not many, but some) who get preferential treatment, and though people think its the refs themsevles, it comes from higher up than them.
