Offseason Needs vs Reasons we Lost

OL got pushed around at times, but I'm not sure WR or DT played much of a role in the loss. Defense gave up some runs late, but overall they played fantastic, especially on the interior. WRs ran open often. This offense struggled because OL let pressure get to Dak and Dak never settled in.

You lose Hilton, doubt he comes back. Lamb ended the debate about if he could be a #1 target. The wild card is Gallup. He now has a full offseason to rebound from his injury. My guess is the Cowboys roll the dice on him being better and then go after another James Washington type of FA pickup to compete the the bottom of the depth chart in camp.

WR was a massive reason we lost…we really needed other dudes to step up and make plays an no one did. No one.

Dak missed MG and an open TY on one play but I mean that’s football…that happens across the league every week.

Most agreed our major offseason needs were WR, OL and DT. We did almost nothing to fill these holes and I’m not surprised they were major reasons we lost.

Dak didn’t play well but Lamb had zero help, the OL created zero push in the run game and our run D got soft down the stretch towards the end of the game when we needed it most.

The worst part is the Jones will likely do nothin in FA / trades and we’ll likely count on “our guys” and draft picks to be difference makers.

Sigh.
DT, CB, WR are the team's priority offseason needs in my opinion. There are going to have to work on resigning a few others to not create more holes: Shultz, Pollard, Lve, Wilson, etc. As for the running game, the loss of Steele was much bigger then we all realized. I believe once he returns, we will have a good group, but they need to shore up the depth.

We have both been pushing for another weapon, the worry was a good defense will expose this weakness, which did happen yesterday. Need more then Lamb/Shultz in the passing game.

I think Zeke playing also hinders the running game so hoping we move on from him in the offseason. Regardless, I'd love to see us add in another OT / OG prospect that can compete for the LT / LG spot. I know you don't agree but I'm not sure Tyler is the answer at LT moving forward - would rather see him at G.

I'd let Schultz walk, roll with Fergy / Hendershot and add a TE in this draft (which is loaded).

I think we should push hard for a WR trade, but we likely won't so my eyes are on Jalin Hyatt in the draft. He'd be a perfect #2 and would give us a speed threat we've been needing, for what, like 10 years?

Now we have a huge problem at RB. You can get Zeke-like performance from nearly any rb in the league now. I have a feeling pollard might come back Gallupesque. Will he look like the Tony Pollard of old?

Yea, tough call. Getting out of Zekes contract should be near the top of the priority list.

Even if he takes a paycut I don’t think he helps us at all.

Yep we can pick up a one dimensional inside running full-back in middle/end of draft, speed is what everyone craves.

Doesn’t even have to be that limited of a player…we can get a good, starting caliber RB in rounds 3/4. Teams all over the league are doing it.

Think the plan next yr, once Steele comes back, having Tyler play inside and Tyron back to LT. Since McGovern won't be back, Forniak needs to be that interior, swing, where they should sign another veteran to backup Tackle if our prospects aren't ready. Wally/Ball.

I have flip-flopped about keeping Shultz, such a big part of our passing offense. It really is going to come down to his price. We can go with our younger players, but they will not be as good at least next season. This position takes development on the NFL Level.

They looked into trading for Jeudy/Cooks and signing OBJ. I think this or corner is the odds on favorite position to use our top pick for. Would love a NT, but that's not happening.

If Tyron is healthy I’m good with that.

I’d also be picking up the phone about Cooks / Juedy again to try and make it happen. We need it badly.

Since Steele went down fairly late in the season, and his injury, a torn ACL of the left knee, means he will not be 100% next year. It may be 2024 before he returns to what he was before.
Dallas needs to invest in playmakers. In the passing game, the running game, and the interior defensive line. I believe what gives me a little bit of hope is that if the 9ers lost McCaffrey and Dallas did not lose Pollard, I believe Dallas would have won the game.

I'm glad others see the domino effect which caused the loss yesterday.

OL in my opinion, is more about shoring up depth and having a plan if Tyron goes down again. Wouldn't be opposed of drafting another G/T.

Yes, we really need a quality #2 receiver, as we cannot assume Gallup returns to his former self. Think Gallup will be more of the #3 and could be off the roster after next season, if he does rebound.

We drafted Tyler Smith who had a reasonably good rookie season. We signed or traded for Hankins he’s been worth the trade. We signed and old offensive tackle. We drafted another tackle in the loading rooms. Think with his team would have been like Without drafting Smith. What do you mean is they should’ve done more. Yeah probably so

To an extent yes, but I think Tyron is just about done so you’re also drafting a future starter.

We forced a need pick on Smith bc we did nothing in the offseason for OL.

Most of our other FA signings during the year were older players out of their prime and were reactive moves basically proving we didn’t do enough in the offseason.

The FO just doesn’t get it…

that first pic you call forced saved our bacon and is our future. We weren’t gonna win or lose that game because of our off-season activity. Or are the dak Haters mistaken even wrong

Losing CW who went on to have a great year at center hurt them and their flex ability, Losing Collins was absolutely fine.
Losing Amari cooper for a late 5th/6th was just stupid. Only signing Washing to provide depth then him getting hurt and not signing Hilton untill late in the season was dumb. Turpin doesn't count since they didn't want to use him as a WR.
Cutting Ridgeway because he was too mean was dumb, they needed all the talent they could get.

I think coaching is part of the issue with the OL. But i'm also not a fan of Biadesz either, he needs to go. Semi and Turpin need to step up or step aside. Same with Wright and Joseph.

The whole WR situation from cutting Cooper on was a complete disaster…swing and a miss.

I actually think Tyler has developed and turned into a steady NFL C.
