How do you reconcile this opinion with reports that not only was he a distraction where garret had to have several meetings with him (and we all saw his sideline physical altercation with the coach), but that he was continuously tardy to meetings and lost the support of many team mates.
I've commented on the tweets, articles, etc., involving the examples you've mentioned on the forum previously. I would summarize my past comments to say none of them prompted significant disruptions in the everyday affairs of the team or the franchise. Garrett met with Hardy about his social media commentary (i.e. his comments about Brady and his wife, etc.), tardiness, etc., in private one-on-one sessions. There were no major or pertinent disciplinary actions taken. Garrett's statements to the media on Hardy's actions have been bland and concise as he presents virtually all information about the roster, which is at least one Garrett process I do respect highly. Garrett handled things. In my opinion, no outrageous waves developed that rocked Dallas' boat.
The sideline "altercation"? I don't recall my exact words from before but I think they would summarize the "incident" as laughable. Hardy yelled at the coach. Hardy knocked the clipboard out of the coach's hands. American football has existed for over a century. Similar player conduct has occurred in the past. The cameras caught Hardy. I would be concerned if Hardy had slapped or punched the coach or other players but him having a sideline snit? meh.
The thing about media reporting is the glossly vagueness of how information is conveyed to the public. "Lost support of many teammates?" Okay. Who? Which teammates? How are the teammates dissatisfied with Hardy as a teammate? Are certain teammates avoiding Hardy socially, on and/or off the field? What are they saying about Hardy? Are tupperware parties being ruined? I don't know. I wished I knew. People with access to the team could provide hard confirmable details. People... like the media. But the media says things like, "Hardy's lost the support of many of his teammates?" Really? 20 teammates? 10 teammates? 5? 1? The towel boy? I wish I could read or hear tangible conclusive info.
This team under jerry and Jason has had issues with discipline and accountability and Hardy feeds right into it.
Okay. It's a madhouse.
The media may have an agenda but they also have contacts inside the team and the locker room. So if you say they are wrong, what is your basis for saying that other than wishful thinking?
I could be wrong. I could be 100% wrong. If I'm saying anything, it's that the contacts you're talking about do not always provide detailed confirmable accounts about conversations and interactions occuring within the locker room, front office, and sometimes even on the sideline that is captured on camera but not available audibly. The contacts you're referring to could be providing testimony. They could also be providing hearsay. Sometimes the contacts use key words like "think", "should", "perhaps", etc., instead of words like "know", "will" or "shall". This isn't a matter of wishful thinking. It's a matter of not drawing conclusions based solely on partial or possibly inaccurate data.
In short, if Hardy is guilty of something and his actions or words have created a real detriment to team unity, etc., report exactly what he's done, describe transparently what problems were created as a byproduct, and give me more than superficial commentary of the entire event. If I must leap to conclusions based on media reports, allow the chasm be a yard across. Don't make me jump over the Grand Canyon.
SAY WHAT??? HARDY'S DESTROYING THE TEAM?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhh *poof!*
