Those sub 4.4 speed are hand timed school ones. His official speed at the combine has been mentioned. He's fast but not compared to the faster NFL WRs. He's not as fast as Stanback, RW, or Austin. He's getting separation and open. If he catches some balls and doesn't get caught from behind then we'll know he's generally fast enough. 40 times are like BPs. They are going to be up and down normally.

He does not appear that fast on the field but appears 'fast' enough. I like the kid. If he keeps getting open against first team defenses then that's all I need to see.

And we do need a player who has some quicks. I'd like a smurf who's even quicker.

You: Me: The difference seems to be you expect big stretch the field plays out of a guy in order to show his speed. I believe a guy can exhibit his speed in the short/intermediate game as well. No redefining at all, just simply different perceptions. There is no question, the guy has speed.

It seems you think I was attacking your fandom and took exception when that wasn't the case at all. I don't perceive you as a hater, just someone I disagree with on this subject. A subject that is a difference of perception, not fact. It was not my intention, in my original post to call you out, just to say my opinion. Apparently, my sarcasm came across as more inflammatory than playfully sarcastic.

I understand your position and hope you have come to understand mine, even if we still disagree.

My bad, I thought you were playing me when I thought you were taking "a defender nowhere to seen" literally. I mean, unless the defender crawled under the carpet or was atomized, the phrase was obviously slang for "the guy got big seperation".

Agree to disagree is no sweat. But my point is that Ogletree has yet to showcase the ability to "stretch the field" (your words) or "play to his timed 40" (my words). Again I am trying to explain to you what I meant, not what you believe my words to mean.

I was not discussing Ogletree's route running, seperation, quickness out of his cuts, etc. But I do accept that speed/acceleration is required to do these things, but when talking of 40 times, most are discussing long speed (vertical threat, stretch the field ability, etc.). 40 yards is almost half the football field after all.
