I just can't understand why there are so many people on this board so ready to annoint Henson a failure. They jump at the chance to point out mistakes he has made. The man played baseball for 3 years and since coming back to football has been asked to completely change his throwing motion. Cut the man some slack. We should all be routing for him. If he does well then we have found our QB of the future for a third round pick. If he fails, be glad we didn't waste a first round pick on him. Is he the future? Noboby knows but we should at least give him a chance. I personally feel he should of played last year after we were eliminated from the playoffs. He has the pedigree to succeed only time will tell if he has everthing else. :bang2:

BTW - A lot of people forget Quincy couldn't even throw a spiral when he first got here. He learned to throw the proper way and would probably be still on the roster if he didn't have his head up his arse.

Relax, when Henson wins the #2 spot, we'll all be satisfied and hopeful that he may amount to something one day. We're just bored and overreacting to the "probably" imaginary scenario that has Romo beating him out for the 2nd spot this year....if that happens, then you'll never convince us that Henson is anything more than another Hutchinson.

I for one don't think there's any chance in hell Henson can be beated out by Romo, but if it happens, I'll freely share my opinion, and it won't be pretty or hopeful for Henson's future.

I'm reconciled now to Bledsoe being the starter for a minimum of the next two years. And I hope it's not just via default, but that he makes a serious statement about reclaiming his former 'elite' status.

Henson I have wrapped up and put into my 'tomorrow' drawer....like lingerie that no longer fits but is too valuable to throw away. I have every expectation some hard work and patience will pay off down the road.

Romo I am PRAYING can keep us from looking outside for a vet backup this summer.

It's Drew Bledsoe for the extended present now.

And I'm not nearly as disappointed as I thought I'd be.

It amazes me how supposedly grown men can be this ignorant  No true fan WANTS Henson to fail, but it's hard to make an arguement in his favor these days. After almost 2 years, his throwing motion has not improved much and he has even reverted back to his original, bad motion. He has no chance of playing much this year, and with him turning 27 before next season starts, time is starting to run out on his chances of being our future QB.

I have noticed that most of those who still defend Henson are simply in denial, they refuse to admit what is so blatantly obvious. The man is getting outplayed by an undrafted QB, this is not a good thing. And all the time while you people are defending him, not once, NOT ONCE, has anyone given a reason why he will succeed other than "he needs more time" which is the eternal optimist response that has no bearing on anything.

I do think fans are jumping the gun here. Henson has had maybe 2 games where he played in the pros. I think Aikman took a year and a half to become a mediocre quarterback, much less a good one. The first pass Aikman threw with any confidence was a little over the middle pop pass to Novachek. And I recall how humiliated Aikman was by Deion Sanders in the Senior Bowl.

The boy needs time, preferably at the end of a 30-10 blowout.

David.

I dont think Henson is a failure. I never understood why anyone thought he was the future of the Cowboys. He's done nothing to prove he is.

As far as Carter goes. He couldnt throw a spiral when he got to Dallas and as far as can remmber he couldnt throw that great of one when he left.

Tory was better his Junior year of college than Henson is now, there's absolutely no comparison.

Once upon a time, Aikman was a rookie quarterback, but he was never a mediocre one.

Henson's a failure. I just don't understand how anyone can believe otherwise. It's the end of the first week of training camp. Zip it up and seal the deal.

Too early to give up on him...but I tell you this, unless Romo/Henson improve in preseason, and I pause before saying this, BP better have Vinny's cellphone if Bledsoe goes down...

Have you actually read some of the posts by the Henson bashers? Some people here seem to rejoice when Henson struggles and spout their "I told you so" crap. I have no doubt that they love the Cowboys, but some people are more interested in being proven right than anything else. I'm sure you've met people like this and it's not any different on this board. The "ignorant" comment was not only incorrect - but out of line.

Wayne, it's more complicated than an alleged 'franchise level talent' getting beat out by an undrafted free agent. And I know you know that.

If it was just a matter of learning curves, even tho Tony has the additional year in the system (and let's not forget he is reportedly a very bright kid), I would be concerned that Drew's getting 'beat' by him was not just an ominous sign, but a fatal one.

But for Henson it is also about an 'UNlearning curve'. The new QC coach, David Lee, didn't come in and just continue the dvelopmental plan. He mandated that Drew needed to change the most fundamental aspect of a QB'
s game..his throwing motion.

In no way would I second guess that decision..these coaches know what is a 'quirk', a 'variety', and a detriment to success.

But had that decision to 'undo' both Drew's natural and learned QB behavior not been made, this offseason would have been spent on automaticizing responses, read progression development, nuances as well as basics.

Instead, it was what? 5-6000 passes thrown to make the arm and body's neuromuscular response begin to kick in as "automatic'.

Of course, steps will be taken backward in the "QB I&I" department.

I know some will read this as a rationale for failure, or an excuse set-up in the making, but it is sincerely as I see it.

Drew can be 'beat out' for the second spot by a third year undrafted FA, and it not be the final decree on Henson's potential. It just means the team valued the 'project' enough to spend its time, resources, and coaching energy enough to do it right. This investment in Henson indicates to me no one is giving up on him.

But then, it all depends on what you think of Romo..as well as Henson. And I think he is a smart, scrappy kid with a decent arm and some leadership skills, not a scrub.

I hope Vinny has a dead battery if Bill makes that call. I would rather see what our young QB's can do.

I still can't believe David Lee is the QB coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Let's just say that I'm not convinced that our two young throwers are in good hands.

Chief, I noticed you have alluded to that before..

I know little about Lee, just the official bio kiss-up...

can you elaborate when you get the chance?
