I like Rice as a starch but McFadden is a complete meal.

I have watched McFadden and think he is a great back. I would love for him to wear the star, but I am not sure I am willing to give what it might take to get him.

But some here are calling him a "Man Child", or a "Beast", or a once in a lifetime RB.

I don't see that.

Now guys like Earl Campbell, Bo Jackson, they were Beasts.

Plus, McFadden has been standing on the sidelines late in the game in 4 of Arkansas' last 5 losses. Hurt.

That is not my opinion.

It will be interesting to see what the NFL thinks of McFadden, Slaton, Rice, Hart, etc. and how high they each go in the draft.

Bo Jackson would be considered the greatest running back of all time if he had not had that hip injury ..... that guy was Superman.

I'm curious why so many people are so big on McFadden being a Cowboy. We have a great running game right now with 2 young backs. If we use a 1st round pick on a running back then we have him and Barber and will eventually lose Barber. Use that pick on something more pressing such as wide reciever or cb. That would help our team much more than loading up with another back when we have a great one on the team already. Everyone praises Barber then talk about drafting McFadden. There are no sure things people so why risk it on something we already have?

Julius is a FA at the end of this year and it is highly unlikely he re-signs here. He stated earlier this year that he considers himself a feature back. He's not the feature back here.

:hammer: :hammer: :hammer: Amen amen. Finally a voice of reason, has anyone actually seen this guy? Talk about lanky, what is he like 175lbs? I weighed that much in high school, and just because your a great college RB that does not translate to a great Pro RB, <Mike Rozier comes to mind>, and vice-versa <Terrel Davis>

Ray Rice has the prototypical size to be a great pro RB. Just watch when McFadden doesnt even make it out of preseason.

I have checked around, and have seen him listed at 205, 212, & 215.

I have been told in the past not to trust the college website because they make them bigger than they really are.

I don't know why they would do that, but I have been told that they do.

I don't see how anyone could look at that beast McFadden and get "lanky" from it. He is tall, but he is freaking enormous.

If anything, I guess you could say he has smaller thighs.

I feel awkward.

"There are two juniors in this mix that if they come out early, will be a carbon copy of the two 1st Rd RB’s in the 2007 draft. I’m talking about Darren McFadden (RB-Arkansas) and Jonathan Stewart (RB-Oregon). Their talent is equal to or better than Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch. McFadden reminds me a lot of the former great RB for the Bears, Gayle Sayers. He has the same long strides and when he is at full speed, he seems to still have an extra burst of speed. He is a tough runner through the tackles and has better change of speeds skills and vision than Adrian Peterson. He is something to watch. Stewart is a carbon copy of Marshawn Lynch – an excellent overall talent. I think he needs to lose a little weight to be quicker for the next level, but that is being nitpicky at this point. I believe McFadden is a top five pick and maybe the best player in this draft. There is another junior RB with a lot of talent also, but Steve Slaton (RB-West Virginia) should move to WR right away and stay in another year. He lacks the true mental toughness to be a RB at the next level. For me personally, Slaton has to show multi-talented skills to be successful at the next level. He is more like a Reggie Bush back. His size lends itself to being moved around from RB to Slot Receiver to WR to special teams returner. I don’t see him being an every down back that gets you the tough yards. The strength of this position will be in how many juniors come out early."

Personally, if we can't get McFadden I hope we get Ray Rice.

He does have abnormally long and skinny lower legs. I have no idea why that'd translate into an injury problem, though.

I have a hard time thinking he would be the number one pick in the draft, or even top 5. I really like the kid, but man think about all that $$$$$ for a RB at that spot. Dare I even bring up a DL from LSU? Dorsey is a monster, or maybe a WR if there is one that is worth that spot?

Thank you! Dorsey is the man we should be looking at. The dude is a beast. I watched him hold back a 300+ lb. OG with one hand while grabbing & bringing down an RB with the other. He penetrates like Tommie Harris. Plus, you save a little money with a DL. I love McFadden, but I too think his legs don't translate well into the NFL, and would much rather have a shorter, thicker player like Rice or Hart.

Both players have super heart & will not go down with the first hit or two. They are like shorter MBIIIs.

This would be an accurate scouting report on Slaton if all you looked at was last year or the year before.

However, all of us that have watched him mature and grow as a RB, have noticed a difference in him this year.

He is bigger, or should I say thicker.

He is running with better vision, better patience, and is finishing off runs much better.

He is running with some power now, whereas he used to be just a speed guy.

I'm not suggesting that he will be a 20+ carry guy at the next level, he won't. I'm just saying that I would have agreed with this scouting report last year, but not so far this season.

He is a more complete RB this season.

I know I am biased obviously, but not to the point that I would say something farfetched or stupid. I think he would be a great compliment to Barber.
