Though I am still not a huge fan of his, I thought T.O. would be much worse for the Cowboys. Also, I thought it wasn't Zimmer's fault.

It may not have been Zimmer's fault, it may have been that Bill kept handcuffs on everybody. Yeah I thought T.O. would've been worse also, and I'm not a fan of either T.O. or Zimmer.:)

I really thought Lance Frazier was a gamer. I thought he would be our starting corner. I had the Petitti pixie dust sprinkled on my cereal every morning, not to mention Henson-itis.

One for me.............I knew Darren Howard would never be a Cowboy.

Ah hell, #81 wasn't as bad as I thought. There. Happy? :puke:

I thought Bledsoe was going to be a pro-bowler for us. :(

that rings a bell, I thought Bledsoe would play well in '06 and that Romo we would struggle w/ Romo inserted into the lineup

I also said that Dallas would go to the Super Bowl

If you post on this board with any regularity you're bound to have one of your opinions blow-up on you concerning the Cowboys...

Give us one instance of when you were wrong. I say just one because some folks like Hos would have to leave a post that would rival the length of "War & Peace".
Man, I'm limited to one. This sucks. I better make it a good one then. That makes the choice obvious to me.

Long before I fell in love with Laron Landry, there was a Safety prospect who I just knew was perfect for the Cowboys. His name was Brandon Everage. I couldn't stop talking about him after he went undrafted. Prior to getting hurt he was a 2nd round talent. I felt sure he would end up in Dallas.

He played with Roy Williams at Oklahoma, so there was familiarity. His hero was Darren Woodson and his career was winding down so I felt he could mentor him for a year. I didn't know at the time that Woodson's career was in fact over.

It was perfect and I couldn't shut up.

So on August 17, 2004 I get a PM from a poster named Veritas1989 who asked me to call him, because he had news on Everage for me. Now, this guy joined the site and looked for someone in charge. He PMed BrAinPaInt, who told him I was infected with the BE "man love."

So, I called him. It turns out he was Everage's agent. Veritas is Latin for truth and it is a legal term. Okay, he had my attention. So he tells me that Everage is in Oxnard and had just passed his physical with the Cowboys.

I was ecstatic. First of all, no one was reporting this. He dropped me the scoop. Dale was in Oxnard at Training Camp with the team and he hadn't even heard about it. Nor had Mickey, Eatman, or any of the DFW beat writers. I asked him if I could break the news to the forum. He said go ahead.

I posted this thread. Meanwhile I was still on the phone with him and he started telling me how hard Everage had been working out and I started sharing it with the forum. You can see the posts. He was telling me every bit of that.

Well, the news hit every Cowboys forum out there as fast as you could imagine. One guy who was as high on Everage was boozeman from DCC.com. He and I worked together on the old site and I consider him a friend. He PMed me and asked if I was serious. I assured him I was.

Big problem. Everage passed his physical all right, but his workout just flat out sucked. Dale let us all know. Not only didn't the Cowboys sign him as I hoped, no one ever did. Last I heard he was playing in the AFL with the Utah Blaze. The only regret I have is that boozeman has not talked to me since that day. He was really pissed at me.

If you click on that link you will find that Veritas1989 only posted twice (in that thread) and that he only visited one more time the very next day. I e-mailed him a couple of times after that but he never answers.

Some guys called me a liar about that whole story. Not to my face of course. I've always wondered, if I made that up, how come Everage really was in Oxnard? Out of all the places he could be on the earth, how did I know he was in Oxnard and passed his physical?

Agendas are amusing. :wink2:

1.I thought Antonio Bryant was going to be the Cowboys next great receiver.

2.I thought Parcells would make our defense completely dominant.

3.I would've bet my drawers that Jerry Jones was bringing Norv in to coach this team after smooching up to Norv for a month or so.

I'll start things off...

I was way, way off on Rob Petitti. I thought the guy would be THE starting right tackle for several seasons. Even after the struggles of his rookie year I "bought" the company line that he was greatly improved, that his weight was down, that he had the grace of "Fred Astaire"... blah, blah, blah.

Boy did that blow up in my face.

I've confessed... now it's your turn--

When I learned man boobs would become coach of the Boys I thought for sure it was only a matter of fact until the players lifted him on their shoulders (it could happen, man!) at the Super Bowl.

Man wuz I wrong.

He had some draft successes, but he had the same number of misses.
He seemed to alienate a lot of players.
Degraded them.
Gave only grudging respect and credit to players.
Intimidated players into being self-conscious with his constant criticism.
He disrespected the press and the fans, I think, because of his arrogant streak.
Was hard-headed about offensive and defensive schemes that were not working.
And he had man boobs.

I'm sure the two Heisman candidates in your backfield next season will help ease the pain ;)

  1. I thought Drew Henson was the next Troy Aikman. (A Cowboys scout said so. And I still think he should have gotten a few games to see.)
  2. I thought Antonio Bryant would be Henson's go to guy for years to come.
  3. I was on the Troy Hambrick bandwagon.
  4. I thought Al Johnson was our answer at center. The next Stepnoski.
  5. Thought Drew Bledsoe would be a Pro-Bowler with us.
  6. Quincy Morgan Bandwagon.
  7. Every fullback we have signed since the Moose retired.
  8. Chad Hutchinson.
I actually still think Pete Hunter would have been a good one if he hadn't torn his ACL. And I also thought he was our answer at Free Safety the year after that. Too bad he was an arrogant prick and wanted to play corner.

As many have said...I thought Henson was going to be our next star QB.

And he would have been if Parcells wouldn't have ruined him and given him a chance.

:D

Are you telling me you don't think Henson should have gotten a shot during that ruined season with Vinny at the helm?

I've been on Henson "hater" wagon for a long time now. For one brief moment I thought he might have something after the Baltimore game, but after the Chicago game, it quickly became readily apparent he didnt have "it", whatever the Hell "it" is.

I thought Antonio Bryant was going to be a great receiver.
I also thought that Rogers and Peterman would be Pro-Bowl lineman.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add Quincy Morgan. I thought he was gonna be a good number two WR for us.
