Old Rumor: Done deal with Rivera?

Someone I know who is "in the know" just told me there is a deal in principle with Rivera to come on staff as an assistant HC/DC and he will be tossed into the mix for HC with Norv and Jason as well.

More importantly, he said Ronnie boy will be bringing the 4-3 with him. Stay tuned.

That's what I told "the guy." He wouldn't tell me anything else but told me that was the "in principle" part.

We'll see if it's true. It's a rumor, but it's not like this is coming out of left field. For those that know me on here, they know I wouldn't stir up this kind of thing unless I had it on good authority.

Not believing or doubting your story - but what do you mean hired thrown into the mix with Red and Norv? They'd hire all three of them, and then figure out where to place them? That's pretty ridiculous sounding.

Norv would have to come here as HC because the Niners arnt going to let him leave as an offensive coordinator or any other asst level coach

if they have a "deal in principle" then its almost assuredly as a DC, because to our knowledge he hasnt been formally even spoken to, and its highly doubtful Jones would make an offer for him to be HC without having a long sit down with him first

You mean we hire Garrett, Norv, and Riveara and let them decide among themselves who is what, HC, OC, DC, ect...

Not that I am questioning your source or anything, I am just not sure how this all fits together. Thanks for posting, if you hear anything else please let us know.

They would have to say he is in the mix if they want to hire him unless they wait until Feb 20th, when his contract officially expires. If that happens, then there can't be an official announcement of a head coach.
