Older Parcells video on Romo

OK then I'm through with this one.

I think that's a wise choice.

This argument of Garrett cant win without Romo has been tossed around
on this board and answered add nausea.

It's never been "answered" because it can't be. It's indefensible.

Few coaches win with their back up QB because of the dearth of QB's today.
Yes there are examples of back ups coming in and winning but not so much.So causes and conditions do apply
even if you brush it aside.

And yet nobody but Jason Garrett can't win. Nobody wins as much with backups, and nobody ever claimed otherwise, but Garrett doesn't win at all without Romo.

What your calling facts are examples to make your point.
When you over reach in your assertions it discredits your argument.

My argument is just fine thanks. Infinitely more credible than a fan's excuses with no facts supporting them.

You never seen or heard of a fluke?

Did he win a championship? Isn't it all about the championship with the Cowboys?
not when you come out of 3 years of 5 - 11 with no discernible talent outside LeRoy Glover and Larry Allen then leave with a near HOF QB, a HOF DE, HOF TE and post 3 out of 4 winning seasons going to the playoffs in year 1 and a botched snap from a win in year 4.

You cant be taken seriously if you want to label that a con

Dallas went a lot of years with little talent !!! Dallas now has the best talent on offense since the 90"s !!!

Those were Parcells comments 5 years ago, Romo's had a bunch of injuries since then including back surgery. He's had the ability and offenses to lead the team to a championship but not the defenses. He's beat up now and the defense isn't likely to be any better than it's been. Romo's not a young player anymore and he's certainly not as lean, healthy and spry as he looked in that video from 06. Even when he trots out onto the field prior to a series he looks like something is ailing him. His chance of leading the Cowboys to a championship has come and gone, he can't take the punishment anymore. Go back and look at video of him in 06-07 and how fluid he was when he moved around. He can't move like that anymore and it's left him susceptible to a lot of hits.

34-30 regular season

0-2 in the playoffs

No other Cowboy coach would be as lauded with that average record.

That team had more talent than glover and Allen. Hell Allen wasn't that good.
Dat football playing dude
Greg Ellis
Woody
Newman
Roy Williams was a legit all pro(at least the first 8 games)
Flozell Adams Don't like him but cant say he wasn't a talent
Coakley
Galloway, Joey
Terry Glenn
Bryant
Gurode
And a darn good D.Cord in Mike Zimmer. Who Parcells couldn't wait to get rid of.

And Garrett added to that. It's not coincidental that when Romo and Garrett were pass happy that this team was mired in 8-8 mediocrity and that once they focused more on balance and the running game, they had a 12-4 season. Even they acknowledge that by continuing to point to that success as their current blueprint.

Exactly!

If we hadn't lucked into Romo, and instead had to try to build a team from scratch every year, that would be bamboo under the fingernails.

Outside of 2007 and 2014 it has been bamboo under the finger nails. 2014 was a shocker season for all of us too. That run game was amazing behind our line and led to the success. They never fully rebuilt the team thanks to over paying vets and thinking we were better than we were. It's finally starting to happen now though, and it looks like we lucked into a stud QB too.

The "8-8 Romo years" is something the team, its coach, and fans should thank Romo for, because without Romo, those are 5-11 teams. These are average ranks for those three seasons:

Romo 7th
his defenses
pts allowed 22nd
DPR 28th
his running games
yards 24th
TD 25th
team avg rank 25th
Then, Hurrah! Hurrah! For Romo's 8-8 years!
But, Mr. Glass is Half Full, I wonder if 5-11 years would have yielded slightly better miscreants.:)

Don't blame 3 playoff wins on Romo.

The guy gets no help from his coaches or defense and we expect him to go win in the playoffs?

How much of his career did he play behind awful to mediocre OL's?

We've seen late 30's being a sweet spot for a lot of these QB's over the years. Romo will be no different.

I do not BLAME 3 CAREER PLAYOFF WINS ON ROMO.
I CREDIT ROMO WITH 2 CAREER PLAYOFF WINS, HIS SUM TOTAL AND HIS HIGHEST ACHIEVEMENTS:angry:
Please re-read my post without tears of gratitude for Romo, lad.

1-11 record in 2015 without Romo. And the '1' was a gift from Desean Jackson and had nothing to do with good quarterback play.

The Cowboys are 1-13 in the past three seasons without Romo under center. The Cowboys are 78-49 when Romo starts and 10-23 without him in the past decade, the vast majority of which was under the Offense of Jason Garrett. It's pretty simple: The Cowboys suck without their star quarterback, and Garrett can't win without him bailing him out.

And Garrett still can't approach the number of winning seasons (1) after 5 years that Parcells had in just 4 years (3). So anybody dumb enough to attack Parcells needs to realize that Garrett isn't even close to that level.

Deal with those facts. Or run.

So ... we have won lots of playoff games and Super Bowls under Romo...

Time for some Guinness to acknowledge that all these drought years under Romo were only a bad dream!!!!!

"Lucked" is subjective bloke.
Who does not love his personal stats? I do.
Yet on every post-Super Bowl show I feel a yen for postseason salve. You know, lad, like a playoff game (or win) every once in a while, or dare I say, a Super Bowl so we could see Romo in all his majesty...
It hasn't happened, has it, dear lad. And odds are it never will.

You never seen or heard of a fluke?

Did he win a championship? Isn't it all about the championship with the Cowboys?

And you just keep burying yourself in delusion and refuse to look at the facts that no QB in the history of the game could've won with the defenses we kept (and continue) to put on the field. You're on the island of "I look bad but I don't care."

But that's okay, it's a message board and always entertaining.
