I agree. A guy who can play both inside positions has extra value and there are a few in this draftIf they draft an interior OL in the first 2 rounds, I prefer one than can play both OG and OG.
CBS, PFF, SI all have him top 50Most if not all places have Avila in the top 50
He just doesn’t have the guard body type.At OT in the NFL he is known as a plus run blocker that had some issues in pass blocking.
Moving a player from OT to OG normally improves his pass blocking (Nate Newton, etc..).
That is not 100%; a lot of people do not have the body type for a position yet succeed quite well.He just doesn’t have the guard body type.

I don’t see why you’re so high on Avila, when to draft magazines have him raided much lower. One magazine has him at seventh best and 4th round and the other has him at eighth best and the 3rd round.
Ocyrus Torrence is the best rated in both magazines. Andrew Vorhees is the second best rated in both magazines. John Schmitz is the 3rd rated in both magazines.
My favorite is the guard from Alabama. Emil Ekiyor Jr. 6’ 3 and 324 lbs. but if Torrance, is there an hour pick who 6’5 347 you got to take him.
@cowboybishReally not a guy that screams out to me in the draft. For me to draft a guy an interior OL the first round, that guy needs to be elite. There isnt that guy in the draft. Im not a big fan of the day 2 guys unless Avila falls to 56, which is very unlikely.

When asked if the Cowboys need to sign a guard, Stephen was quick to point out, "we've got a guard" referring to newly-signed veteran Chuma Edoga, who has experience playing both tackle and guard. "We feel good about him," Jones added.
OT
Earlier in the day, Jerry Jones said he views Terence Steele as a swing tackle for now. When asked to Stephen, he had a vague answer, stating "I think it's the five-best guys. At the end of the day. Mike's always preached that you know. It's early. We got a new offensive line coach. He gets them out there and gets his hands on em and sees what they can do. We'll figure out what are the best five guys and what makes us the best football team for 17 games plus hopefully the playoffs."
They started Peters at LT in the playoff game against the Bucs, their plan was to have Tyron Smith play LT before the injury to Steele. He was drafted as a future tackle who had versatility to plan Guard.I don't have much confidence in Edoga right now. Maybe he can convince me in training camp and pre-season. But it does bring up the point again that they seem hesitant to move Tyler Smith inside. It would be a shame to take Terence Steele off the field.
No way do the boys draft a guard in the 1st rd unless they think he is the second coming of Larry AllenBased on that guard signing, you would think he fits that spot starter when Tyron goes down. We are going to see another Guard added through the draft, but I'm not sure we will in the 1st rd, but never can rule it out.
Edoga/draft pick most likely are just spot starters when Tyron misses time. Fully aspect Tyler to start there until Tyron is unable to stay healthy. It's unconventional, but they did bring Tyron back and still can make 17 million next season if he reaches his incentives. He is probably a better OG than Farniok. Farniok is probably playable at OG against half of the NFL, but I dont think you want in the lineup against top tier interior defensive lines. He is probably best as your #4 OG than can play all three interior spots. Edoga is probably a better start at either G spot of you have an injury
He plays a little high and has plodding feet too. That is not 100%; a lot of people do not have the body type for a position yet succeed quite well.
I see it as Tyron, Tyler, Biaz, Martin Steele (if healthy)I have the feeling that Edoga is a typical, serviceable vet that the Cowboys hope to upgrade in the draft, but could start in a pinch.
I think our 2023 Oline will look like this:
OT: Smith, Smith, Steele, Waletzko
OG: Martin, Draft pick, Edoga, Farniok
C: Biadasz, Farniok
Depending on the pick, this could be a pretty good, deep line.
Avilia is rated as a top 40 pick by many top draft guys, same goes for Schmitz, Torrence is around the top 30. Ekiyor is more of a day 3 player.I don’t see why you’re so high on Avila, when to draft magazines have him raided much lower. Seeing how Larry Allen was a 2nd round pick, they could wait until then.No way do the boys draft a guard in the 1st rd unless they think he is the second coming of Larry Allen

ITs neitherStephen and Jerry contradicted each other. I think Stephen is the one to pay attention to at this point.
