I have the feeling that Edoga is a typical, serviceable vet that the Cowboys hope to upgrade in the draft, but could start in a pinch.

I think our 2023 Oline will look like this:

OT: Smith, Smith, Steele, Waletzko
OG: Martin, Draft pick, Edoga, Farniok
C: Biadasz, Farniok

Depending on the pick, this could be a pretty good, deep line.

Really not a guy that screams out to me in the draft. For me to draft a guy an interior OL the first round, that guy needs to be elite. There isnt that guy in the draft. Im not a big fan of the day 2 guys unless Avila falls to 56, which is very unlikely.
Avila doesn't look like 1st round material. Teams might reach for him. Hope the Cowboys don't. Draft another position of need (starter: either a WR, RB or DT) in the 1st round. If Avila is still there late in the 2nd, pick him. If not, address Oline during the middle rounds. We don't need a starting Olineman (1st or 2nd round picks) to be picked right now. What we need is much better Oline coaches who know how to coach up our current Olinemen.

I'm not sure Jerry and Stephen think this far ahead as far as replacing players. It appears they worry about replacing a starter when he's no longer on the team. Not looking at his contract and saying we may replace him a year or two from now. Howie Roseman .....yes but not Jerry and Stephen.
It will be a tell who they draft in rd 1, if you see a Edge or Corner you know they are thinking about the future, if we see an offensive players it's more about this yr.

I bet they Keep Biadasz. If he plays well again and they can resign him for what Mcgovern just got they should do it.
I agree, Biad most likely gets extended, but if you see a Schmitz or Avilia drafted then all bets are off for 2024.

IS anyone really dumb enough to think we are going to take a guard in the first? Avila is clearly a 2nd rd guy so who is this mystery first rd guard?

this could be a line draft for O-Line and D-Line. We are set at pass rush. We need to draft a DT. Big boy. A few of them if they are available. And O-Line.. A DT or O-Line high round. But McClay could go after a corner, LB or TE early. We will hit on some gems.

+ eleventy billion

The Cowboys have good offensive linemen that were schemed/coached poorly. McCarthy cleaned house on offense for a reason.

I don’t see why you’re so high on Avila, when to draft magazines have him raided much lower. One magazine has him at seventh best and 4th round and the other has him at eighth best and the 3rd round.

Ocyrus Torrence is the best rated in both magazines. Andrew Vorhees is the second best rated in both magazines. John Schmitz is the 3rd rated in both magazines.

My favorite is the guard from Alabama. Emil Ekiyor Jr. 6’ 3 and 324 lbs. but if Torrance, is there an hour pick who 6’5 347 you got to take him.
What's a "magazine"?

Cyrus from Florida................considered the top interior offensive lineman in the draft by many scouts.............will almost for sure go in the 1st round.

ESPN has him listed as 6-5, 347.................he would be an absolute monster at LG if we could get him.

You want to run the ball more, picking this dude at 26 will go a long way to accomplishing that goal, talk about a road grader.

Agreed, but everyone here thought Frederick was a reach and we all know how that worked out! Gotta trust McClay and the boys lol

They positioned themselves pretty good for drafting BPA, I sure would love to see top prospects at OL, DL, TE and RB available at 26 and see who they get?

That will tell you something about the maneuvering behind the scenes. I bet Big Mike calls for OL or TE, JJ wants a playmaker there. We will see.

Draft can't get here soon enough!

When asked if the Cowboys need to sign a guard, Stephen was quick to point out, "we've got a guard" referring to newly-signed veteran Chuma Edoga, who has experience playing both tackle and guard. "We feel good about him," Jones added.
"We like our new guy."

OT
Earlier in the day, Jerry Jones said he views Terence Steele as a swing tackle for now. When asked to Stephen, he had a vague answer, stating "I think it's the five-best guys. At the end of the day. Mike's always preached that you know. It's early. We got a new offensive line coach. He gets them out there and gets his hands on em and sees what they can do. We'll figure out what are the best five guys and what makes us the best football team for 17 games plus hopefully the playoffs."
Well that sounds a bit more sane.
