Trevon Diggs is probably getting paid after this season, and Parsons will be the highest paid defender in the league after next season. I'm no capologist, but with Dak's deal, that has got to put us in a bind.

The cynical suggestions that somehow it's all a ploy to "keep us interested" is... pardon my cynicism... so predictable and yet so absurd. You can't seriously believe that discussions of some kind to some degree did not take place, and it's all just a Jerry prank.
To be fair to Jerry... don't laugh, it's actually do-able... he did say he thought the odds were more likely no deal would be made than that there would be.
To be fair to common sense... we can never know what we can never know, being without hidden microphones to pick up on inside intel... and it's literally impossible for mere mortals like all of us to assess whether any deal should have gotten done but was rejected out of some lack of competence.
Just sayin.

LOL. There is zero doubt that Jerry/Stephen leak this stuff to whip up interest and make it look like they are really trying. They are both consumed with PR as much as any owner in the league.
Jerry and/or Stephen will come out in a day or two, talk about how they really tried to make a deal, the prices were too high, blah, blah, blah.

I hear you…but neither were the rams in 2021. The last three SB winning GMs- Les Snead of the rams, Jason Licht of Tampa and Brett Veach of the chiefs…all extremely aggressive in FA and trades.
