Once Vaccaro went, nobody left we wanted at 18

I been hitting up different sites on the net and this seems to be general belief going around. If Vaccaro lasted to 18, he was going to be the pick. Once the Saints took him, we basically were wiped and had nobody left that was worth picking at 18.

The DTs that were left were not quick twitch DTs that Monte wants for his scheme. Jerry basically said as much in his presser when he said the DTs left were more in the 34 Nose mold, that is why we passed on Floyd.

Yea, it would have been nice to get more from SF, but if a 3rd is the offer and its either take it or leave it, we may not have had a choice. I mean, the deal you get offered is the deal you get offered.

If nobody is left on our board that we like at 18 and a 3rd is the best deal we can get, doesn't really matter what the value chart says. We basically had no choice but to take the deal once we got wiped out.

At least we got an extra pick tomorrow.

Yep, I really thought the Saints were taking Jones there, then I am betting the Cowboys would have most likely tried to make a deal with the Bills to jump in front of the Steelers b/c they were eyeing Vaccaro as well.. I just wish we could have got an extra 5th or 6th in the deal & then used that to jump up into the 2nd tomorrow... With how deep the talent is in the 2nd round, I really believe we need to package #74 & a 6th, which should be enough to trade for someone's #2.

Agreed...........we need to package those 3rd rounders and get back into the 2nd.

If we can get a safety and a quick twitch DT with those two seconds, then this draft will be a success in my opinion.

Had no choice. Lol.. The cowboys again demonstrated last night they had zero contingency plan once certain players were taken off the board. Yeah, we have no use for players like Floyd, Williams, Elam, or Eifert, but instead we reach for a C. Teams like the steelers, ravens, pats, giants, 49ers are never caught off guard because they have competent front offices. Jerry jones is a complete joke who got taken by the niners. There were players to be had, but once again Jerry got cute and outsmarted himself.

The second round is deep, but so is the third round.

Coming out of this with 3 players is going to be much more impactful than 2.

So you would have taken Pough at 19 like the Giants did?

Funny how he is not even listed as a first rounder on half the mocks on the net

I'm glad the Saints took him. Likewise if we had taken him I would have been ok with it. It will be interesting to see how the safety position plays out for us this but I think we'll be ok there.

Yeah, I'm really surprised all we got for the move down was 74. The 49ers have plenty of picks and they needed a safety. We should have been able to sweet talk a 5th, 6th or at least a 7th into the package.

The draft is not deep...really.

Folks want to say that the Cowboys got the best Center in the draft...he is far from being the best OL left, yet alone player. They need more than a center.

With that said, I think they may have made a bad move with moving down. If there was any time to move up... this was it.

We shall see. I give the kid his time to see how it all works.

Would anyone say that Reggie Bush being the best college RB equates to being the best NFL RB ? I sure hope not. He is solid when healthy (he originally should have gone to Philly or NE), but not even considered a top ten RB these days right?

Yes, keep the 3rd rounders.

We can snag two valuable and possibly starting players in the 3rd.

absolutely not

we can get 2 starters with those 2 3rd rounders

lets not compound a bad deal by making another bad deal

Pugh or floyd would have been the better decision.

I was glad he went before 18. But on the other side his Primetime appearance impressed me.

Since Vaccaro was apparently the Cowboys last option for staying at #18, would you rather the Cowboys have taken him if he had fallen to them or what they actually did last night?

Actually, if you listened to the Conference Call, they absolutely had a contingency plan. That had had talks with San Francisco since before the draft, in case this exact scenario happened.

This was not a trade that they just made at the last minute, they had been talking with San Francisco for a few weeks about the possibility of doing something like this, since they knew San Francisco had so many DP's.
