One past Cowboy player for this playoff run: Who would he be?

Emmitt would be the best choice but it wouldn’t likely be like the glory days behind this OL.
Even with this run blocking scheme Emmitt would thrive. TP is too impatient. ES would make the first guy miss and find the hole.

I like TP and Dowdle but I’m ready for some new faces in the backfield.
If I could put Zeke in the wayback machine and get 23 year old Zeke I might be just as happy. But there is no question in my mind that prime Emmitt would feast on modern NFL defenses. I mean didn't Emmitt put up 150 yards against the Bucs great defense back in 2000 or 2001? With a pretty pedestrian set of linemen blocking for him? Clay Shiver? Solomon Page and that ilk. The legend is that the line made Emmitt.. when in fact it was the other way around. Even as great as Larry Allen was, he was only one guy. I'm not sure he helps Biadasz against bigger DTs. And unless we're going to put him at right tackle he's not going to impact Terence Steele's struggles one iota. Putting Emmitt back there makes them ALL better because he was the best I've ever seen at setting up blocks, reading the hole and exploding through the tiniest of openings.

Deion. And don't give me anyone pre '92.

Guys from the 70s would look like alcoholic uncles on the field compared to today's players.
That's blanket statement that simply isn't true. Nobody in the modern NFL could run with Bob Hayes.. Hell they might struggle to stay with Cliff Branch or Lance Alworth. There are not a hand full of tackles in today's NFL who could consistently block Harvey Martin or Deacon Jones. Both were about the same size as Demarcus Ware, TJ Watt, Khalil Mack et al. No receiver in the modern NFL could consistently get open against Mel Renfro.. or Mike Haynes.. or even our own Everson Walls. Maybe there are MORE specimens in the league today.. but that doesn't mean there weren't any back in the day.

Prime Larry Allen. We would be a lot more effective running the ball. A higher T. O. P. really helps on the big stage.

It's really him and then everyone else.

Next choice: Bob Lilly.
I can't argue with this but I feel like the dropoff from Roger to Dak is smaller than the dropoff from Emmitt to Pollard. We don't need a better passer.. but we desperately need a better runner. IMHO of course. But I can't be mad at Mr. Cowboy either..

;) According to the late great John Madden, Emmitt had bouncibility. :) So people would just bounce right off him!

Emmitt?
Haley?
Randy White?
Ware?
Aikman?
Dorsett?
Irvin?
Considering our running game: Emmitt. Got a top quality pass rusher. Got a good-enough QB. Got a great No. 1 receiver. You can make an argument for the DT, but I'd improve this running game.

Bob Lilly ran down RB's from behind.

Manster gets my vote.

No run game, no passing game.

No doubt.

I feel like prime Randy White fixes the defense, yet a prime Emmitt fixes the offense.

I'll say 1995 Emmitt.
