i gotta think it's gonna be mcfadden. i know everybody has a crush on barber but a few things make me think jerry tendered him because he's not gonna resign him. turner from SD just got a big contract and he didn't produce half as much as barber did. plus his agent is drew moneybags. i think barber is gonna want more money than turner and jerry would be a fool to give him that with his reckless running style.

Didn't Moore go to the Steelers? Anyway, I'm a little board with free agency, mainly due to our lack of a splash. But you're right, Jerry is being smart about all of this. He's taking care of his own first, and seemingly getting all of his ducks in a row before the second wave of free agency and the start of the draft.

Correct and my point was that the only question mark on FA so far would've been not going after Moore because his contract was pretty doable...But, oh well.

The "wow" factor was signing Flozell. Or, maybe, the "wow" factor is that Jerry is showing restraint from throwing big money at overrated player's (Javon Walker,Deangelo Hall).

This is a team that doesn't have glaring need's but has the mean's of upgrading via the draft with out risk of cap hell so to speak.

this has been a very good offseason so far imo.

I've said it before and I will say it again..do not discount Terry Glenn and/or Isiah Stanback being the WOW players Jerry is referring to. Think about it...Jerry got ZERO ROI on Terry Glenn last year....if Glenn is healthy...and the cap hit to cut him versus keeping him is the same...there is nothing to lose by keeping him. And I am willing to bet Jerry is banking on Glenn being able to give us something.

In order to draft McFadden we would have to trade our 2 firsts and our second.

22 + 28 + 61 = the 5th

22 + 28 = the 8th pick

22 + 61 = the 14th pick.

28 = 61 = the 17th pick

Trading up around the 5 spot would be foolish. We might get McFadden but we would not get a corner which would be bad.

Now if McFadden somehow drops to 7 then there is no question in my mind that Jones will do everything in his power to trade up to that spot to get him. Both firsts for the best player in the draft is not a bad deal. Even then trading up around there to get a Mendenhall, DRC or McKelvin is not a bad idea either.

At the 14th pick it is very likely that one of those three will be available as well. And the top WR starts to become value around this point as well.

just gushing over a single player is silly and I doubt that Jones is putting all his eggs into a single basket.

We have Glenn (wr) Barber (rb) Henry and Newman (cb) we don't desperately need anything, we WANT a third corner, we WANT another rb, we WANT better receivers, who doesn't?

So, if we're going to WANT players, might as well WANT the best out there. Luckily we're in a position right now where we don't have to add thousands of players to our roster since we're not in rebuilding mode.

Even if we don't trade for dMAC, I'd like to use at least 1 of those 1st for something special, via trade or something, since we are in a position of luxury right now.

Stop shopping at goodwill when you have a million dollars in your wallet.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if it can be fit in to the cap.....which means I don't think it will happen.

ANYTHING can be fit into the cap, high signing bonus, small base bonus 1st year, etc.!
If we want him and if he's actually available, the CAP will not stop us!

Maybe Chris Johnson will be our "wow" player.

But you can't just think RIGHT NOW!
We are gonna NEED to replace Henry next year, so we're gonna need a top C.B., and you don't want a rookie STARTING next year do ya?
so that's why you draft one THIS YEAR, he can play some and learn and adjust and then enxt year take over, same for W.R., W.R.'s take at LEAST one year most times 2 years to adjust to the NFL and most don't BREAKOUT till year 3 as most FF players know, so you need to draft one NOW so that in 2 years when T.O. is probably gone, we have someone to step in and not skip a beat, the last thing you want to do is wait till your problems are in front of you, you draft now so in the future you don't have to panic and draft someone and force them to start as a rookie, you need to plan in adavance, the good thing about going C.B. then W.R. in round 1 is that both will contribute as rookies and can be brought along at whatever pace they are learning, the W.R. can play on 3 W.R. sets and passing downs, and the C.B. can play on passing downs as well when Newman goes to the slot when opponents go 3 W.R. sets also, so you get the best of both worlds, you get your FUTURE #1 W.R. and C.B.'s while both will provide much needed depth and both will get substantial playing time this year also at positions that we need more depth at anyway.

The LAST THING you want to do is traqde our picks away and get a guy like McFadden which will cost us cap wise and also give us future problems not only with the cap but with not having top notch players to take over at C.B. and W.R.'s in the future as well, so don't look at it like we have the LUXURY, look at it like this draft can set us up for some time for the enxt 7 years whole Romo is here and can keep this thing rolling along by adding top players at key positions of need compared to getting McFadden who would add to an already strong position already, I'd rather use my picks on players at positions of present AND Future needs then add a guy where we already have a pro bowler starting.

I think Jerry made a big mistake mentioning "Wow" as it pertains to any offseason upgrades.

He said he wanted to add a WOW Player to this OFFENSE!
which IMO he'll add two probably in the draft!
Maybe a Desean Jackson and who knows, ubt Jackson is a WOW player as he adds the excitement factor with his speed, and would be considered a WOW player IMO in Jerry's mind.

Maybe Jerry Jones drafts someone like D.J. Hall in the first round, prompting the collective Cowboys Nation to go "wow!"

You are right but at what cost for the future. When you start doing all that restructuring you have to pay up some time. Jerry has said he'll never go back to the salary cap hell days. And please don't start with the uncapped year stuff because that will never happen.

IMO mortgaging the future is not worth it. Improve what we have now and keep managing the cap like we have been and everything will work out fine.

Unlike most I agree with you, Dmac is the one player that can be added to this offense that will completely change the way defenses have to play us. Corner is the only position that has to be addressed this year, all the talk for a receiver this year is premature, they have high expectations for Stanback, Crayton and Hurd are fairly consistant, and Glen is still here. I thought when they made the trade with Cleveland they had McFadden in mind, and I believe with all the players we already have in place this may be the only time we can afford to gamble on a player of this caliber. Get er done Jerry.
