Open Letter To Ryan Switzer

he couldn't get on the field BECAUSE of Dez. He never even got a fair shot. Your assessment is not valid.

I would say it was because of Beasley and his hamstring injury in TC. Doubt the coaches planned on playing Switzer who was 5'8 and 181lbs, on the outside at the X or Z

Switzer was picked up by the Raiders because the special teams coach there was the Cowboys' old special team's coach.

Switzer will be a return man, if he makes the team, doubt he'll be a big part of the receiving corps...

The player is gone. I will keep up with him anyway. Hope we as fans do not regret, rue his dismissal one day. Love all my brothers here and sisters. We are fans of the greatest team in the NFL! Gotta love that.

I understand what you’re saying. Basically wishing the guy GL and still a Cowboys fan...good deal man..thank you for your service and Go Cowboys!

Dez and Switzer don't play the same position. He is not an outside receiver. He couldn't beat out any of the slot guys. And clearly the team thought so highly of Switzer that they signed and drafted multiple guys that can play that position in Tavon Austin, Michael Gallup, Deonte Thompson, and Beasley is still here. Get off of Switzer's sack.

lmao...dude..I'm not one of THOSE people. Altho your pretty funny. I realize he is a slot..but he was a slot receiver with quicks and straightline speed. He was a pretty well polished route runner in college. So your trying to tell me we didn't have the room for him on the roster? lol...Do you realize TWILL is hurt...and we signed a guy very similar in Deon Thompson..a straight line speed guy.? Why not have Switz compete and earn a role? To me they must have known something we don't,to simply trade him off for a guy who's done next to nothing..its weird.Especially when you consider how depraved we are at WR..even after the draft. We made a position of weakness, weaker. Altho, getting rid of Dez was addition by subtraction.

he's a weapon for sure. We didn't use him enough.

With Beasley coming off a year where he led the team in receptions, Dez ensconced as the no. 1 receiver, Williams as the no. 2 receiver, Witten as the tight end and with Zeke there for 10 games catching passes out of the backfield, I would submit that any rookie wouldn't have been used "enough"...

so to your point...what do we do next? Trade a pick for Tavon Austin..who happens to be only 178 pounds soaking wet..and 5ft. 8 or 9.. It makes no sense!!!!!!! You trade a small receiver who is a good weapon..only 1 year into his rookie deal, showed promise..ONLY to make another trade for the exact same type pf player who has been hurt nearly each season he's played!!!!!! Austin I hear will be converted to RB..or scat back. LMAO..so whats the over under on him getting hurt by week say, 4?

WE CLEANED HOUSE and we still trade him away? For me,its a red flag. SOMETHING off the field had to be an issue.

I don't disagree with you that they didn't try hard enough with Switzer. I was more making the point that anything with Dez didn't affect good ol' Switz. I don't know if bringing in any of those other guys was the right call, but clearly the team thought Switz was worth letting go of.

I am sorry you never had a real chance in Texas. I think you are a very talented player. I wish you all the best in Oak town! I as some others were looking forward to this new year here in Dallas as to what this staff was gonna unleash on the NFL in regards to you my friend. I thought for real you were the Cole Beasley replacement player. Having lived in WV and married into a WV family myself ( Brooke Bruins...

Didn't expect to ever see the Brooke High Bruins on this board. We played them in football and basketball every year - dang football team dressed just like the Packers.

I hated those guys.

If that was the case, then why would Oakland want him?

I really think that the Cowboys just felt having two 5-8/180 lb slot receivers wasn't something they had room for on the roster...

we still have 2!!!! We traded for Austin! He's actually smaller than Switz. lmao...Like your theory and I wish I could believe it,but the fact we traded for the very same type of player destroys such theory.

well.. I guess its spilt milk now. No going back. Lets hope they know whats best. I am struggling with the fact you trade away a good player, for an older version of the very same player. lol.. Its a head scratcher. Doesn't logic tell you/me that MAYBE there's more to the story as to the why of it? We may never know.

Only thing I can figure is Switzer said something after Dez was cut that didn't set well with the brass. Got to be something off the field that was done or said for them to trade him out this fast.Something had to be the tipping point. This boils down to off the field stuff, not talent.
No it doesn't. Raiders called and wanted Switzer after we traded for Austin. Raiders said you got your punt returner you don't need Switzer and knowing Dallas wanted Ward offered him. Jerry said as much after the draft, Switzer has a great heart and had nothing to do with off the field issues cause none exist
