Open Letter To Ryan Switzer

No it doesn't. Raiders called and wanted Switzer after we traded for Austin. Raiders said you got your punt returner you don't need Switzer and knowing Dallas wanted Ward offered him. Jerry said as much after the draft, Switzer has a great heart and had nothing to do with off the field issues cause none exist
You may be right, and to be honest,I'm grasping at straws...lookin for why we would do this.Tavon is always hurt. So now he will be healthy? Just seems like a reach.Hope we didn't get too cute.

Huge fan of Switzer and when he is tearing it up the same ones celebrating and calling Switzer a bum will be the same ones complaining Jerry traded away a solid receiver.
I like Switzer too, but I get why they did what they did.
And it's not like they traded Switzer for Austin....they got more than 6th round value for Switzer with Jihad Ward.
Anyway, I definitely wish him luck.

Just not against us.
Recall Dwayne Harris (who I really liked) killing us in that key loss to the Giants in a season where any division loss would end up costing us the playoffs.
He got payback--at least for a day--but I sure wasn't happy about it.

Well Dallas got excited about getting Austin and knowing we had too many receivers plus wanting Ward was all part of it. Austin has fumble issues as well, I like the player but the ones complaining about Switzer fumble against the Rams are celebrating now. First thing they asked Austin when we traded for him was if he was healthy....... That's crazy.

Another thing is Dallas wanted Switzer to be like a Dunbar and Austin will fit that role. Switzer is the better receiver while Austin is more of a running back and running screens.

what has ward ever done honestly? Its like a apples for apples trade. Usually in a trade, there is a clear cut winner. I fail to see how ward helps us UNLESS he flips a switch and becomes a nice rotational guy. I hear we are wanting to sign Terrel McClain. lol..whats that say about Ward? lol

translation...we didn't know how to use Switzer. So we gambled and traded for ward/Austin. IT BETTER WORK or it will look really foolish.

so to your point...what do we do next? Trade a pick for Tavon Austin..who happens to be only 178 pounds soaking wet..and 5ft. 8 or 9.. It makes no sense!!!!!!! You trade a small receiver who is a good weapon..only 1 year into his rookie deal, showed promise..ONLY to make another trade for the exact same type pf player who has been hurt nearly each season he's played!!!!!! Austin I hear will be converted to RB..or scat back. LMAO..so whats the over under on him getting hurt by week say, 4?

Well, they supposedly took Switzer only because their #1 target went to the Eagles, so they settled for a guy that could at least contribute on St right away and possibly handle the role they envisioned for Pumphrey. Guess either he wasn't the exact fit for the gadgetry they wanted out of him?
Austin, to the FO, I guess is a better fit for what they want to do on offense, and I still believe he still has his speed that made him go in round 1 years back.

I don't have much faith in Austin doing too much, but hey, I'm often wrong lol.

I am sorry you never had a real chance in Texas. I think you are a very talented player. I wish you all the best in Oak town! I as some others were looking forward to this new year here in Dallas as to what this staff was gonna unleash on the NFL in regards to you my friend. I thought for real you were the Cole Beasley replacement player. Having lived in WV and married into a WV family myself ( Brooke Bruins and you George Washington) I was and am still rooting for ya. I know you are gonna succeed and use this to your favor. On the other hand Tavon Austin is a Mountaineer from Baltimore,Md but still a Mountaineer. And he is now a Dallas Cowboy. I wish you both well. That completes my open letter. I am a born and raised Texan and a first team Dallas Cowboy fan.

I get the trade as well but we should have found a way to keep Switzer. With his versatility to play special teams and as a receiver I feel we are a better team with him. I felt like he never got a real chance to really show what he could do and Jerry said they hadn't planned on trading Switzer but raiders called them with an offer with a player they looked and a position of need.

This offseason including draft I was ok with, just disagreed with giving up Switzer. Young, talented and cheap plus under contract for 3 more years

Open letter to Tavon Austin: ...hmm hmm....clearing my throat: "Look bud, your fast,so play like it,and STAY OUT OF THE TRAINING ROOM/MEDICAL TENT. This will be your last stop, make the most out of it dude." "Players make plays,so do your job." NO MORE EXCUSES.

I think we could have traded a draft pick for Ward and wouldn't have cost much. Then you have all 3 and having Austin and Switzer gives us insurance in the return game plus creates competition. Switzer gets a chance he will produce and is clutch

Thought he was the ideal dude to replace Bease. But then they drafted Wilson who can play slot and Hurns can play there as well, so his short and long term offensive outlook became crowded.

But Switzer can line up outside as well. Beasley can not and isn't a threat in the return game

WELL SAID. Gave up Switzer for an oft injured older version of the same dude! Jihad Ward..meh...never done a thing.

now Wilson..your on to something. Me thinks THAT may be why Switz is gone. Wilson has the versatility and production to play anywhere, mainly the slot. I think Wilson may be the real reason why Switz is gone. In that case,I can't be mad. I see that logic. Honestly,Wilson is the better player, hands down.

Oh, I don't think Ward is some huge get. Not at all.
I just think Oakland could've probably gotten slightly more than a 6th for him. In other words, I think Switzer was valued higher than just the 6th that we ended up giving away for Austin.
Just speculation though.

I do think Ward will get real playing time here though. Not as a starter, but somewhere in the rotation.
