And after a season and half, when it's evident he's not going to get this team to the super bowl in such a short amount of time, people will be screaming for his head too.

The song remains the same.

I think Cower is exactly what this team needs. We need his intensity and toughness. I think he would drastically improve our penalties and mental mistakes.

Also I agree that he did very well even with sub par QB's. Once he finally had a ligit QB in Ben they won it all.

Fire Wade and pay him Jerry.

This ain't baseball. A midseason headcoaching change is pretty much throwing in the towel.

It's the middle of October... let's try to keep our chins up.

I think Cowher will end up in Kansas City. He has a history there. They will have a top 5 or the top pick with room under the cap and they can give him complete control. Something Jerry would never do.

Cowher won a SB, got to 2, made it to the playoffs 2/3rds of the time, and averaged 10 wins a year, in spite of spending most of his time in Pittsburgh with guys like Kordell Stewart and Neil O'Donnell at QB, and in spite of an ownership that won't spend any $, not even to keep its own players.

Few coaches working right now can match his resume.

I don't think Cowher wants to return to coaching w/ a rebuilding team

My opinion was no the first time, no the 2nd, no the 3rd, and I still say No, No, NO!

Even IF he gets complete control, we STILL will be complaining about this guy even more so than Parcells.

Uhhhhhhhmmmmmmmm................if you remember, Cowher got his GM duties stripped after the '99 season. It was their 2nd straight year they struggled, they had QB problems, and he went on the hot seat and was *this* close to getting fired.

BTW-he also made another boo-boo when he lobbied management a couple of years later to keep ageing corners Chad Scott and Dwayne Washington...their pass D ended up taking a hit from '02-'03.

Yes, we need a GM, but giving Cowher complete control won't be the answer.

Cowher's always been one of the most overrated coach in football IMO. His one super bowl win was a joke as they clearly stole it...he had numerous home playoff losses and swore up and down for years that Kordell Stewart was a real QB despite management/front office people who argued differently.

The one thing I would agree is we need someone with his in your face, high intensity style that can motivate people. I really wouldnt want Cowher himself though.

he lost several home playoff games and was the reason they played several years with Kordell at QB, because he believed he could make him a QB even when others in the organization were saying otherwise.

they had a ton of talent over the years and he really didnt produce in the postseason, save one year where his team out and out stole a super bowl from Seattle

Was that the same year his team went on the road and beat the AFC's top teams at Cincinnati, at Indianapolis and at Denver?

I also don't remember the Steelers having a ton of talent under Cowher, quite the opposite in fact.

Seemed to me that unlike Coach Cupcake here, Cowher always got more from less, not the other way around.
