Opinion on Kellen Moore

Happy feet? Did you guys even watch the game?

He was far more calm in the pocket than I thought he would be for a QB that hasn't played a meaningful game in the NFL before.

Did you?

Did you NOT see my fourth string comment?

Lighten up, Francis.

He reminds me a bit of Showers in that he looks like he is comfortable playing, and if he thinks the job is too big for him, he doesn't let it show. He did throw 2 picks (and another on a Hail Mary at the end of the game, which shouldn't really count, IMO...), so he needs to do a better job finding the safeties. His numbers would have been better -- and the outcome of the game could have been different -- if the receivers would have held onto the ball. I don't know what is going on with that. His accuracy is pretty darn good, he has a quick release, and if we can get him some decent blocking up front I think we can maybe win one of these last two games. Call it a bold prediction.:)

Long term, I'll go with what Stephen said, if he's saying we're still going to draft or sign a QB to back up Tony, hopefully one who is good enough to push him, at least eventually. If Moore does OK the next two games, he should be competing for the backup job in training camp next year, and we'll probably keep three.

He was reading the defense quickly. He's decisive with the ball. He's elusive in the pocket and bought some time. He's got that spark that you look for in a QB. His problem was that, while he read the coverage quickly, he read it wrong or just plain missed a defender twice. Once because he was under pressure and 'pulling a Tony.' Once because he was staring down a receiver.

I short, he's making mistakes you'd expect a young QB to make, but they're still mistakes. He'll have to demonstrate that he can take better care of the ball at this level. I think he's got a shot, though. I'm looking forward to watching him the next two weeks. Probably the only thing I'm looking forward to still with this dismal season. That, and maybe watching Lawrence continue to make strides if he can. Knocking WAS out of the playoffs would be a nice consolation prize, too, if we can get a shot at it.

Points well taken. What I liked,he came in relief as the first time NFL career game
and didn't look lost.He already looked better then the other QB's in previous games.

I expect more recognition moving forward and next year we aren't overloaded
looking for Romo's replacement and his back up also. We might have found his back up
in Moore. Next two games tells the tale.

He knows Linehan's O. So that puts him ahead of Cassel.

I think he'd make a good backup QB if we continue to stay with Linehan as OC. But I don't see him as an effective QB if we were to change O schemes. His strength right now is his familiarity with the O.

But I'd love to see more of him over the next two games.
