PS all the way,,unless an injury and / or they keep 4 RB's.

Outside chance he really impresses and makes the 53 but I don't see it. Show me in TC.
I know some have him as the 2nd best RB in the draft behind Zeke so it seems, and have him replacing McFadden before the pads come on.

I am pulling for him to turn out to be very good, if not this year, then next. Because he is on the team, I will root for the best.

EE - 20 touches
Morris- 10 touches
Dunbar- 3rd and long back 5 touches(Reggie Bush, Joique Bell, Arian Foster if Dunbar is PUP)

RSmith- FB and emergency TB

DMC-doesn't dress unless EE or Morris gets hurt

DJackson- PS

Best back after EzE. Don't care if he's a 6th rounder who has proved nothing. He won't make it to the ps. Doesn't make much sense to keep both Mac and Morris. He could also give us a nice option as a returner.

i agree Darius won't make it to the PS and McFadden gonna get hurt i believe, oh my bad, he's already hurt so what that tells you how his season is most likely going to end up....

That's where they fit. They love the versatility of Dunbar esp as a receiver. Garrett said he has total trust in him even as a X, Z or SL. There is no other RB who fits that bill.

Consider lining up EE and Dunbar in the backfield, setting the defense then motioning Dunbar outside into a 3 or 4 wide. That's a problem for the defense who has to account for him. This opens up the field even more for EE.

PS/Edit:

That didn't translate so I'll try again

RB...........................................Role RB
====....................................... =====
EE Dunbar
DMC
Morris
.......................Jackson

They have Elliott flexing out like your talking of Dunbar doing in practice already. I watched DMC do a lot of that in Oakland as well. I could see his role expanding. Dunbar's clock is ticking.

We simply won't know how good of a player he is or isn't until the end of training camp... which conveniently, is when cutdowns are.

Nobody really knows right now. Except me. And I'm not saying anything until after camp.

Doesn't have to be that way.

Thoughts: I'm not sure if it is poor vision or that godawful blocking he was getting but it's not pretty. His QB is terrible. Very quick and fast.

Watching that video, one thing is for sure: EMU is awful. I can't believe that QB was the starter, there were no redeeming qualities. It looked like a failed WR playing QB. Jackson got little to no blocking from the o line. He has elite speed and decent wiggle/agility in the video. He was used as a lead blocker at times and was just average at that. His pass protection needs some work, but I have seen worse. He runs high, looks like a much faster Eddie George. It's clear why he was a sixth rounder though, there was no way he was going to be able to show all he can do in that offense and needed a pro day to show some traits.

I just dont get all the adulation for this guy. I wish him the best but please. There are posters saying he'll never make it to the PS- really? what has he done to make teams jump instead of going who? if we release him. Other's have him ranked over Morris and DMC. Really? This is a late 6th round pick, 1 ahead of Gathers who was his teams lead runner for 1 year. If he doesnt do a lot in preseaon or get a niche like KR or PR i see a struggle making our already rb heavy squad.
Again I wish him all the best but dont expect that much

EE is a threat as far as receiving out of the backfield. But I'll bet you there won't be a lot of snaps where he motions out of the backfield into a receiver's slot nor where he just lines up there. Garrett is on record as saying Dunbar could be a pure receiver although if so he'd have to be a SL. He's not big enough to be a X or Z. McFadden is not a threat to Dunbar's role. Jackson MIGHT be able to play the outside speed threat.....we'll see.

Dunbar is Dunbar's biggest threat because he needs to stay healthy.

He has to show up on ST's

If he does I think he has a very good chance at making the 53

Exactly, were way over hyping him... Again he had one decent season on an awful college team, and now some here expect him to be the number 2 back? I just dont see it...

I just believe that he has potential to convert to FB. I read he is a power style, straight ahead runner. A traditional FB would be a great benefit for a run dominant offense. Someone that could block for Zeke and still get the inside yards We haven't seen that kind of FB maybe since the 70's. Old school type.

What is there to lose? We have a plethora of RB's. Jefe, do you know what a plethora is?

I thought the same thing when watching the video, but he was hot and cold on run blocking. Majorly whiffed at times

Now all we really have on Darius Jackson are HIGHLIGHTS which isn't the same as "tape"/game film but based on those highlights he really seems to run with authority, although he seems to run a little high. Plus with Ezekiel, the potential of any other running back seems superfluous especially someone like Jackson who might end up on the PS. But he seems like he might have something in a couple of years, maybe as a spell back to Elliott.

There's a long list of running backs Dallas has taken over the years with few actually working out. I don't get my hopes up about a sixth-round RB making the team, but I'm excited if one shows enough ability to do it because it means Dallas hit on a draft pick that could have easily been a miss.

Here's a list of tailbacks drafted in the fourth round or later by Dallas over the years:

Joseph Randle (5th)

Tashard Choice (4th)

Marion Barber (4th)

Michael Wiley (5th)

Tarik Smith (7th)

Derrick Lasic (4th)

Curvin Richards (4th)

Tony Boles (11th)

Mark Higgs (8th)

Alvin Blount (9th)

Topper Clemons (8th)

Robert Lavette (4th)

Herschel Walker (5th)

Norm Granger (5th)

Chuck McSwain (5th)

Lawrence Ricks (8th)

George Peoples (8th)

Timmy Newsome (6th)

Ron Springs (5th)

Alois Blackwell (4th)

Dave Williams (7th)

Scott Laidlaw (14th)

Dennis Morgan (10th)

Les Strayhorn (17th)

James Ford (13th)

Joe Williams (13th)

Claxton Welch (9th)

Walt Garrison (5th)

Craig Baynham (12th)

Les Shy (12th)

Ron Lamb (13th)

Perry Lee Dunn (4th)

Bill Perkins (12th)

Amos Bullocks (20th)

Nine out of 34 tailbacks (26.4 percent) taken by Dallas in the fourth round or later have proven worthy of being as much as a backup for the team (and I'm being generous), while two out of 20 (10 percent) taken in the sixth round or later have... although a lot of those backs in the early drafts were taken really late. The good news is we've gotten decent production out of our last four backs taken in the fourth round or later.
